<p>Former President Donald Trump said during a Monday interview that former first lady Melania Trump had been watching on television when he was shot during his July 13th rally in Butler, Pennsylvania — and that she was still traumatized from the moment she saw him drop to the ground.</p>
<p>Trump made the comments while speaking with Fox News host Laura Ingraham just over two weeks after the would-be assassin had shot him, killed firefighter Corey Comperatore, and gravely injured two other rally attendees.</p>

<p>&#8220;What was Melania&#8217;s reaction, if you don&#8217;t mind my asking,&#8221; Ingraham asked the former president. &#8220;I know this is very personal — when she learned about what happened on that field in Butler.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;She was watching. She was watching live,&#8221; Trump replied. &#8220;It was all over the place, it was on television, it was on your network, it was all over the place and she was watching. I asked her that — I mean, I wasn&#8217;t there, I was on the ground.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I said, &#8216;So what was your feeling?&#8217; and she was — she can&#8217;t really even talk about it,&#8221; Trump continued.</p>
<p>&#8220;Traumatized,&#8221; Ingraham interjected.</p>
<p>&#8220;Which is okay, because that means she likes me, well, she loves me,&#8221; Trump quipped, repeating that several times before returning to a more serious tone. &#8220;I will say this — look, when I went down, she thought the worst had happened because I went down. And I grabbed my ear, and my head was loaded up with blood &#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>Trump concluded by remembering the hero firefighter, Comperatore, who had died that day shielding his family from the bullets.</p>
