Actress Shannen Doherty revealed in a recent interview that cancer has spread to her bones — but she also made it clear that she had no intention of giving up the fight, even in the face of difficult news.
Doherty, 52, gave the news first to PEOPLE Magazine for an interview published Wednesday. “I don’t want to die,” she said. “I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not — I’m not done.”

Doherty laughed a bit as she compared fighting the disease to a “Pac-Man video game,” saying that she and her doctors had found a “good regimen” and she was taking things “day by day, month by month, year by year.”
The actress has been battling breast cancer since 2015 — and after undergoing chemotherapy and a double mastectomy, she announced in 2017 that the disease was in remission. She revealed that the cancer had returned in 2019 — this time at Stage 4 — and had metastasized.
“When you ask yourself, ‘Why me? Why did I get cancer?’ and then ‘Why did my cancer come back? Why am I stage 4?,’ that leads you to look for the bigger purpose in life,” the “Charmed” star told PEOPLE, adding, “It’s insane to me [that] we still don’t have a cure.”
Doherty has been very open about her journey, her fears, and the treatment she has gone through — and has shared much of the process publicly on Instagram.
