Megyn Kelly, Piers Morgan, and others blew up on social media after the Algerian boxer Imane Khelif — who failed past gender tests, according to the International Boxing Association (IBA) — was named the female Olympic champion.
At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on Friday, Khelif was awarded the gold in the women’s welterweight final boxing match, prompting immediate reactions on social media.
The host of “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast blasted the move by writing, in all caps, about how unfair it was that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded a boxer reportedly with XY chromosomes the gold medal.
“Don’t you see? Don’t you see what this insanity is doing to women??” Kelly wrote. “WHY DO GIRLS HAVE TO SHARE THEIR BATHROOMS W/BOYS? THEIR LOCKER ROOMS? THEIR SPORTS? THEIR PRISONS?”

“WHY DO 4th GRADE BOYS HAVE TO SHARE THEIRS W/GIRLS (& THEIR TAMPONS) IN MN?” she added. “NONE OF THIS IS NORMAL, SAFE OR FAIR.”
“To all the media who have FAILED WOMEN AT EVERY TURN on this boxing and virtually EVERY trans story: SHAME ON YOU ALL,” Kelly continued.
Talk show host Piers Morgan called Khelif being named the women’s champion a “travesty.”
“From Emmeline Pankhurst to this… where are the world’s feminists now, as women’s hard-fought rights get so shamefully destroyed?” Morgan’s post read.

“BREAKING: A biological male just won an Olympic Gold medal in a women’s boxing competition. Congrats to everyone who supported this travesty,” he added.
When someone tried to claim the boxer was a female, Morgan shut them down by pointing out the facts. “Imane was banned from the World Championships after testing positive for male XY chromosomes.”
“[Imane] didn’t appeal it,” he added. “If [Imane’s] a biological woman, [Imane] should take another test now and prove it. Spoiler alert: [Imane] won’t.”
Former collegiate female swimmer and vocal advocate for women’s rights in sports, Riley Gaines, wrote on X that “Khelif (XY) dominated World Champion Lang Liu (XX) to win an Olympic gold medal.”
“Let me repeat that: a MALE has taken a WOMAN’S Olympic gold,” Gaines wrote.
“This is what they call this ‘progress,’” she added. “It’s the ultimate betrayal of fairness, safety, and women by [IOCmedia].”
The official social media account for the Independent Women’s Forum wrote on its post, “BREAKING: A MALE has taken a women’s Olympic gold in boxing.”
“The [iocmedia’s] decision to let Imane Khelif (XY) compete is a betrayal to women & fairness + safety,” it added. “Yang Liu is the deserving winner of the gold. #Olympics #IStandWithYangLiu.”
Khelif previously failed gender eligibility tests by the IBA, but was allowed by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) to compete against biological women in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Olympics has formally cut ties with the IBA, which the IOC now dismisses as “not credible,” and allows boxers to compete based on the gender listed on their passports rather than any gender-related testing.
