Actor Keanu Reeves has long enjoyed a reputation for being a genuinely nice guy — and according to a throwback photo posted by “Underworld” star Kate Beckinsale, that reputation is well-deserved.
Beckinsale recalled a moment at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival, when she walked the red carpet alongside Reeves, Denzel Washington, Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, and Robert Sean Leonard to promote their film adaption of the Shakespearean comedy “Much Ado About Nothing.” A slight mishap with her undergarments, she explained, resulted in both Reeves and Leonard helping her hold things in place as the three actors stepped in front of the cameras.

“So my mum DID find one of the original Cannes pictures but unfortunately it’s not full length so you can’t see the Dr. Martens. Fun fact though: I had bought the bodysuit in the Sock Shop at the airport and when I got in the car to drive to the premiere with Denzel and Pauletta Washington, all the poppers in the crotch popped themselves open and it flipped up like a roller blind,” Beckinsale wrote, describing what could have been a truly mortifying experience in the caption.
“I didn’t feel it was appropriate to go delving around in my undercarriage with all of us in the back of the car so I just quietly panicked,” she added, noting that she was about to step onto a red carpet with a half dozen Hollywood A-listers and still hadn’t figured out a way to resolve the issue.

“Walked out onto the biggest red carpet of my life and whispered to Keanu and Robert Sean Leonard what had happened,” she said, adding that the two quickly helped her cover. “In this picture I am holding the front gusset down and the two of them are holding the back gusset.
