Secret Service agents are reportedly set to testify at the end of this week after being subpoenaed by a federal grand jury in the criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump’s handling of classified materials.

“FOX News is told multiple U.S. Secret Service agents connected to Former President Donald Trump have been subpoenaed & are expected to testify before the D.C. grand jury likely on Friday,” Fox News anchor Bret Baier tweeted. “The grand jury appearances are related to the Special Counsel Jack Smith probe into the handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.”

The news comes as the former president flew to New York on Monday to appear at his arraignment after being indicted on multiple felony counts last week in a separate criminal investigation.

The Washington Post reported on Sunday that federal investigators with the FBI and Department of Justice have discovered “new and significant evidence” of potential obstruction of justice by Trump in the classified documents case.

After Trump received a subpoena, the former president looked through some of the boxes at his Mar-a-Lago estate “out of a desire to keep certain things in his possession,” the report said.

The report said that investigators have witness statements, security camera footage, and other documentary evidence that shows classified material was moved from a storage area and that Trump went through some of them. Trump’s team signed a declaration for the court saying that all documents had been returned after Trump received the subpoena, but a subsequent raid found scores of classified documents that were not turned over.

The former president faces another federal criminal investigation over his efforts to stay in office after losing the 2020 presidential election. Trump also faces a criminal investigation in Georgia over his efforts to stay in power after the election.
