Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer is using his appearance on “Dancing with the Stars” for a good cause by auctioning off his neon-green salsa shirt from his debut episode to benefit wounded veterans.

“Spicer is auctioning that shirt to the ‘Yellow Ribbon’ fund, which supports caregivers for injured service members. The other charity, ‘Independence,’ provides track wheelchairs to injured service members,” reports Fox News.

Speaking on “Fox & Friends,” Spicer said that he felt the shirt could be sold to someone looking to make a great Halloween costume while admitting that he did not choose the shirt’s infamously tacky color.

“I’m good to let it go for a good cause. These are two causes are near and dear to me,” Spicer said. “Someone might want a great Halloween costume. Halloween is just around the corner. You might be a huge ‘Dancing with the Stars’ memorabilia collector.”

“I didn’t read my contract real well,” he said in reference to the shirt, which was revealed to him by his dance partner Lindsay Arnold.

“I think this is payback for everybody who wanted to get back at me,” Spicer continued. “So they’re like, listen, we’re going to put you in the worst shirt to make you play bongos, listen and dance to the Spice Girls and wear this shirt halfway cut down your chest.”

The former White House press secretary debuted on Monday night’s episode of “Dancing With The Stars” with a salsa rendition of “Spice Up Your Life” by the Spice Girls, which did not exactly earn high accolades from the judges, receiving a tepid score of just 12 out of 30.

Though Spicer didn’t have the groove, he at least appeared to be having a good time, which is the most that anyone can hope for on “Dancing with the Stars.” The judges saw it, too.

“There was some element of salsa there, not always on time or on rhythm,” said Judge Bruno Tonioli before admitting that Spicer’s performance was “strangely entertaining.”

Judge Carrie Anne said, “You were offbeat most of the dance, but you had fun.”

“I did,” Spicer replied.

Judge Len Goodman said, “You brought fun to the ballroom. Well done.”

While leftists have largely been trashing Spicer’s appearance on “Dancing with the Stars” as a cheap ploy to make himself relevant, Meghan McCain of “The View” defended him, arguing that he’s just trying to support his family.

“If he was dancing at a wedding, we’d all be impressed,” McCain said on “The View.” “Like, if he was at a wedding or a Bar Mitzvah, you’d be like, ‘That guy can move.'”

“He has children who are adopted, he’s a really decent man, he used to dress up like the Easter bunny at the Easter egg roll,” McCain continued. “He’s got a really good heart … He used to be really well-respected … Why I’m not mad at this is because he’s got kids to put through college, he’s got to pay his bills one way or the other and if you’ve got to dance in a lime green shirt entertaining me when I have nothing else to do at night, then I’m not that mad at it.”
