<p>Conservative commentator Candace Owens tore into the governor of her home state Wednesday after he announced what he described as &#8220;<span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">the first pediatric fatality in Connecticut linked to COVID-19,&#8221; despite his spokesman admitting that medical officials have not yet actually confirmed what caused the death of the child and the chief medical officer telling reporters Wednesday that they &#8220;have not issued a final cause of death.&#8221; </span></p>
<p><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">&#8220;It is with heartbreaking sadness today that we can confirm the first pediatric fatality in Connecticut linked to [COVID-19],&#8221; Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) announced in a series of tweets Wednesday (posts below).  &#8220;A 6-week-old newborn from the Hartford area was brought unresponsive to a hospital late last week and could not be revived. </span>Testing confirmed last night that the newborn was COVID-19 positive.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;This is absolutely heartbreaking,&#8221; the governor continued. &#8220;We believe this is one of the youngest lives lost anywhere due to complications relating to COVID-19. This is a virus that attacks our most fragile without mercy. This also stresses the importance of staying home and limiting exposure to other people. Your life and the lives of others could literally depend on it. Our prayers are with the family at this difficult time.&#8221;</p>
<p>Owens, who has family members who live in the state, unloaded on Lamont for what she portrayed as &#8220;scaring mothers&#8221; through &#8220;partial information&#8221; and &#8220;political doublespeak.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;&#8216;Linked to Covid-19&#8217;. What the hell does that mean?&#8221; Owens wrote in a series of posts responding to Lamont&#8217;s thread. &#8220;Did the newborn have pre-existing conditions— yes or no? Did the infant die OF coronavirus yes or no?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;STOP with this political doublespeak,&#8221; she added. &#8220;Scaring mothers of newborns with partial information is SCUM BEHAVIOR.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;&#8216;Complicated by&#8217; &#8216;Linked to&#8217;, has anybody else realized that ALL of these death announcements provide partial information?&#8221; Owens wrote in a follow-up post. &#8220;If you are going to start using the death of infants to scare people into doing what you want, you better start providing FULL information, [Gov. Lamont].&#8221;</p>
<p><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">In response to someone accusing her of suggesting that mothers should have &#8220;zero worry over COVID-19,&#8221; Owens wrote: &#8220;Both of my sisters, who live in a Connecticut, gave birth for the first time in these past 3 [coronavirus] </span><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">weeks. What I am demanding, is that [Gov. Lamont] </span>be more responsible and tell mothers the FULL picture, so as not to inspire undue mass panic.&#8221;</p>
<p><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">&#8220;Two things can be true at once: the [coronavirus] </span><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">can be real, and corrupt politicians like [Gov. Lamont] and [Gov. Andrew Cuomo] </span>can be lying to extract money from the federal government because their socialist-run states are out of money,&#8221; she added in another post later. &#8220;Both are true.&#8221;</p>
<p>While Lamont suggested that the baby died because of coronavirus, as reported by <a href="https://www.ctpost.com/news/coronavirus/article/Lamont-16-more-coronavirus-related-deaths-in-CT-15171683.php">CT Post</a>, chief medical examiner Dr. James Gill &#8220;said the actual cause of death has not yet been established.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;The infant did test positive for the COVID-19 virus and an autopsy was done at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner,&#8221; Gill said in an email to the outlet. &#8220;At the current time, we have not issued a final cause of death. There are numerous tests that we must do on infant deaths before issuing a final cause of death. We cannot discuss the specifics of an investigation.&#8221;</p>
<p><a href="https://fox6now.com/2020/04/01/connecticut-governor-announces-covid-19-death-of-baby-less-than-7-weeks-old/">FOX 6</a> reported Wednesday that a spokesman for Lamont acknowledged that officials &#8220;did not know whether the infant had underlying medical conditions.&#8221;</p>
