Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) suggested on Sunday evening that he might file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission over the fact that President Donald Trump’s “60 Minutes” interview with Norah O’Donnell was edited for time.

Citing the lawsuit filed by Trump over a “60 Minutes” interview of former Vice President Kamala Harris — just days before the 2024 presidential election — Schumer claimed that he could simply copy and paste the complaint from that lawsuit.

“Maybe I should file a complaint with the FCC against the Trump White House for editing his unhinged 60 Minutes interview. It will use the exact same language Trump lodged against Vice President Harris,” Schumer posted via X.

The president’s rapid response team shot down Schumer’s claim, however, saying that the edits were not at all the same.

“They deceptively edited Kamala’s answers to make her look somewhat coherent ahead of an election, you moron — then wouldn’t release the transcript/unedited interview. That’s not the same as editing for time constraints (AND the transcript/unedited interview were both released),” their response read.

They and others quickly pointed out the fact that CBS had edited the Harris interview in order to make her sound less incoherent — and then had proceeded to slow-roll the release of the full transcript and unedited video. Trump’s interview, on the other hand, had been published in full along with the transcript on the day the interview aired.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr flipped the script on Schumer, saying that as long as he and other Democrats insisted on voting to keep the federal government shut down, the FCC would not be able to address his complaint.

“Due to the Schumer Shutdown, even your frivolous filing could not be processed by the FCC. But seriously, you should end the Schumer Shutdown-which is imposing real pain on American families-rather than nonsense posting. You should open the government, rather than using Americans’ pain to pander to your far left flank,” Carr posted.

“Maybe you should stop posting nonsense at 1:19AM in the morning and open the government,” Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) added.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) said, “Why don’t you open the Government, quit trying to starve poor folks and help us fix the broken healthcare system you helped create.”
