American actor Tom Sizemore, known for his role in “Saving Private Ryan,” was hospitalized Sunday after suffering a brain aneurysm.

Sizemore’s representative told media outlets that he suffered the injury in the early morning hours. He is in critical condition.

“He is in the hospital,” Sizemore’s representative Charles Lago told Fox News. “His family is aware of the situation and are hoping for the best. It is too early to know about [a] recovery situation as he is in critical condition and under observation.”

Lago told TMZ that Sizemore was at his home in Los Angeles at around 2 a.m. when he suddenly collapsed unconscious. Someone in the home found him and called 911. Paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. Lago said that the actor was in a “bad way,” and that the possibility of a full recovery is uncertain.

The actor starred in a number of high-profile movies in the late 1990s and early 2000s, particularly war films.

He also played an unnamed Vietnam War veteran in Oliver Stone’s 1989 war film “Born on the Fourth of July,” a DEA Agent in 1991’s “Point Break,” Bat Masterson in the 1994 Western “Wyatt Earp,” and had a supporting role in 1995’s “Heat.”

In 1998, Sizemore starred as Technical Sergeant Mike Horvath in Steven Spielberg’s World War II epic “Saving Private Ryan.” He went on to star in two more war films in 2001, Michael Bay’s “Pearl Harbor” and Ridley Scott’s “Black Hawk Down.”

Sizemore has had a complicated personal life, including run-ins with law enforcement and a continual drug habit. He was married to soap opera star Maeve Quinlan from 1996-1999, but they divorced because of his drug issues. He has two children with another woman, twin sons Jagger and Jayden.

In 2017, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Sizemore was kicked off the set of the film “Born Killers” in 2003 for allegedly molesting a child actress. The actress filed suit against him in 2018, but it was thrown out in 2020. Sizemore was also questioned by police in 2011 after his then-girlfriend went missing.

Sizemore talked about his drug abuse and recovery in a 2021 interview with Fox News. “I’ve been trying to get sober since 1991,” he said. “It became really big news much later than that, but I was trying to stop. I’ve had a problem for a long time. I had periods, long periods, of sobriety and I would end up relapsing.”

“I still go to meetings and work my steps, but I had reached a place in my life where I knew I had to stop,” he added. “I couldn’t be arrogant anymore. If I wanted to reach a nice and pleasant old age, I had to stop. And if I wanted to watch my kids grow up, I needed to reach a place where I knew it was over.”

“So far, it has remained over,” he went on. “I still have to do my daily inventory and show up.”
