This week, all hell broke loose in the political world after ridiculously partisan leftist Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg called 2016 Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump a “faker,” adding, “I can’t imagine what this place would be – I can’t imagine what the country would be – with Donald Trump as our president.” This led Trump to go Twitter nuclear on her:
Justice Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court has embarrassed all by making very dumb political statements about me. Her mind is shot – resign!

Yes, really.
Now, oddly, the left has basically sided with Trump. Here was The New York Times today: “Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg needs to drop the political punditry and the name-calling….Washington is more than partisan enough without the spectacle of a Supreme Court justice flinging herself into the mosh pit.”
But why, you ask, would the left suddenly defend Trump’s attacks on one of their heroines? Because the myth of Supreme Court impartiality is more important to them than Ginsburg’s feelings. The truth is that Ginsburg is a political actor and has always been one – she started as a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union. In 2012, she said openly that she didn’t like the American Constitution, and that if she had her druthers, she’d operate under the South African Constitution, which guarantees “rights” like housing and healthcare.
She’s always been a hack, in other words. And the Court, thanks to the left, has become a nakedly political instrument. Ginsburg just revealed that for everyone to see.
We should be thankful to her for that much, at least, even if her jurisprudence is a junkyard of discredited political fatuities. At least let’s stop pretending she’s not some qadi under a palm tree, dispensing justice free from her own personal bias. She isn’t. And neither are any of the other leftists on the Court who suggest that the Constitution mandates same-sex marriage, abortion, or whatever their cause of the week is.
