Former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo talked about the importance of her and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey’s relationship being “faith based” and “rooted in God.”
In an interview with Fox News, the 30-year-old model said it was the NFL star’s faith that caused her to break her own rule about never dating an athlete again. The two have been linked since 2019.
“The foundation of our relationship has always been God,” Culpo explained. “And I feel like when things are hard or when you’re both overwhelmed [and] there’s not a ton that you can give to each other, you can always rely on God.”
“So I feel like if the foundation is there, if there’s a foundation of that in any relationship, it is incredibly helpful,” she added. “Sometimes you just need help with any relationship. … That’s not only like with friendships. It’s with everything. I think it’s important to be faith-based, truly.”

During the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model’s new reality TV series with her sisters, Sophia and Aurora, “The Culpo Sisters,” the former beauty pageant winner opened up about her dream of becoming a mom and starting a family, the outlet noted.
“I feel like I’ve always known that I wanted to have a big family because I came from a big family,” Culpo shared. “I feel like freezing your eggs is a very empowering move. It kind of puts you in control a little bit more. And I would recommend anybody doing it who wants to have kids and is maybe in their 30s and hasn’t had kids yet. I hope it could be more accessible for everyone.”
Culpo previously dated singer Nick Jonas from 2013-2015, Entertainment Tonight noted. She also dated several well-known athletes, including former NFL players Tim Tebow and Danny Amendola.
The model spoke to ET about those past romances.
“You see things about yourself that you need to work on,” Culpo shared. “It really requires you to turn inward in a weird way, and, of course, when they fail, it’s on a whole other level. So I feel like I learned a lot about myself in every single hiccup in life and with every single person that involved. So you can only be grateful of those types of experiences.”
