Appearing on MSNBC’s Hard Ball with Chris Matthews, director Rob Reiner talked about how disappointed he is that the United States didn’t elect its first “woman president.” That’s not at all surprising, as the Left thrives on identity politics. However, the following exchange he had with Matthews shows just how tone deaf and contradictory progressives can be:
REINER: “It’s really unfortunate that we don’t have our first woman president because I do believe that women have a greater love of life; they cherish life more than men do in a weird way, they’re not as easily willing to throw it away. And I think it would have been very good for this country to have the first woman president.”
MATTHEWS: “You and I don’t know what it’s like to have a human being come out of us. That’s quite an experience, to have a baby.”
REINER: “That’s right. We also don’t know what it’s like to have a human being growing inside of us, and nurturing a human being.”
Both Matthews and Reiner referred to an infant in the womb as a “human being.” Reiner even said that women cherish life more than men do, and they don’t throw it away as easily. All in reference to Hillary Clinton.
(Pause for laughter)
Hillary Clinton supports abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy; she voted against the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003; and she champions Planned Parenthood on a regular basis.
On April 24, 2016, Clinton told Chuck Todd of Meet the Press that the “unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.” One year earlier, in April of 2015, Clinton told a crowd at the Women in the World Conference that “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed” so that women can have greater access to “reproductive healthcare,” which is a leftist code-phrase for abortion. Clinton wants to eliminate the Hyde amendment, which currently prohibits taxpayer funding of abortions.
The list goes on and on. Hillary Clinton most assuredly does not cherish life. She never has.
Matthews and Reiner perfectly demonstrated that the Left will use anything to advance a narrative, even if it contradicts their core platform.
Women cherish life, and it’s such a shame that a life-cherishing woman like Hillary Clinton wasn’t elected president. Women like Hillary Clinton don’t throw life away like men do…Well, unless the umbilical chord is still attached.
