Fox News reporter Griff Jenkins fired back at the suggestion that the network had coordinated with Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) to capture footage of illegal migrants being dropped off outside Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence last week.

Jenkins, who has been an integral part of the network’s coverage, told “MediaBuzz” host Howard Kurtz that it was “ridiculous” to suggest that he had coordinated anything with Abbott ahead of the story.

Kurtz began the segment with a few clips of the coverage showing migrants being dropped off outside Vice President Kamala Harris’ official residence — on orders from Governor Abbott — and two plane loads of migrants landing in Martha’s Vineyard, courtesy of Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL).

“Some critics said it looked like collusion,” Kurtz said, turning to Jenkins for a response.

“That’s ridiculous. We did not coordinate nor would we coordinate,” Jenkins fired back, noting that there had been an official press release that was sent out to multiple news organizations, embargoed until the migrants were scheduled to arrive.

“We did not have much details,” Jenkins continued, going on to point out the fact that other news organizations had also been on the scene when the migrants began to disembark. “It’s just a charge that holds no water.”

“CNN and MSNBC immediately sent reporters to Martha’s Vineyard,” Kurtz continued. “President Biden said this is playing politics with human beings, reckless and unAmerican. Many pundits are criticizing it as well.”

Jenkins pushed back, noting that he had been covering the U.S.-Mexico border for years — and that his goal had always been to shed light on the crisis there. “I even went to the Panamanian jungle —”

Kurtz asked how that coverage related to the current concern — namely the migrants who were being hand-delivered by Republican governors to self-proclaimed sanctuary cities and states — and Jenkins said that the governors were only trying to drive an important message home.

“Del Rio has a population of 35,000. They had 50,000 migrants come there in July,” Jenkins explained. He later added, “In one case, the city of El Paso sending nearly 2,000 migrants on 50 buses to New York, there’s no criticism there. But yet 50 drop in the tiny island paradise of Martha’s Vineyard, and the tiny island paradise is brought to its knees? There’s a double standard there.”
