A man embarked on a murderous rampage in a supermarket near Hamburg, Germany. According to the German newspaper Deutsche Welle, the police reported the following:
The suspect had entered the supermarket and suddenly began stabbing customers before fleeing the building. Bystanders followed the suspect and alerted the police, who arrested the man shortly thereafter in a nearby street.
The police department’s official Twitter account wrote the following:
#Barmbek: An assailant has attacked and injured several people in a supermarket. One person has died. Suspect has been arrested

While the police have not identified the suspect, witnesses told the press that the individual had screamed “Allahu Akbar” as he continued stabbing patrons.

Germany has faced considerable issues with radical Islamic terrorism over the past few years. On New Year’s Eve in 2015, a gang of over a 1,000 Muslim men sexually assaulted and raped over 100 women in Cologne. Last year, a Syrian Muslim refugee murdered a woman and injured two others with a machete.
German public opinion about Chancellor Angela Merkel’s refugee policy soured with the increase of radical Islamic extremism throughout the nation. A poll conducted following President Donald Trump’s controversial travel ban showed that 53% of Germans wanted all Muslim migration to stop compared to the 19% who did not want it to stop.

UPDATE
German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel reports that the suspect was a Palestinian-Arab born in Saudi Arabia who came to Germany as a refugee. Police describe him as a known Islamist and still have not determined the motive at this time.
