Red Lobster Faces Boycott, Mockery After Pulling Ads From Tucker Carlson

   DailyWire.com

Amid yet another advertiser boycott pushed by left-wing groups against a Fox News host, Tucker Carlson has seen several companies pull their ads from “Tucker Carlson Tonight” after he described the unregulated influx of low-skilled immigrants as making America “poorer and dirtier.”

Speaking of unregulated immigration of those without a college education into the country, Carlson said, “Nobody even tries to defend it. Instead, our leaders demand that you shut up and accept it. We have a moral obligation to admit the world’s poor, they tell us, even if it makes our own country poor and dirtier and more divided.”

Under pressure from activists, some of Carlson’s advertisers have bailed, including Pacific Life, Indeed, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Lexus/Toyota, Mint Mobile, Samsung, SodaStream, SanDisk, and Nautilus Inc. (parent company of Bowflex).

Among the advertisers that have agreed to pull their ads from Carlson’s show is Red Lobster. Asked for comment on the Carlson boycott by “Suez” earlier this week, Red Lobster replied, “Red Lobster is [sic] will no longer be advertising during this show and will continue to monitor ad placements carefully. We appreciate your feedback.”

The company has since issued a better-worded official statement, as reported by The Wrap: “Red Lobster’s advertising buying guidelines reflect our core values and commitment to supporting programming that represents the highest standards of good taste, fair practice and objectivity. We reserve the right to make changes to our purchases when the dialogue is no longer in line with our criteria.”

While “Suez” gave Red Lobster a big “Thank you!” most of the responses online to its decision haven’t been so positive. Many have announced they’ve officially joined the #BoycottRedLobster movement. A few examples:

Others have responded with mockery, including NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch (h/t Twitchy):

Fox News has stood behind Carlson, dismissing the advertiser boycott movement as just another campaign waged by “left-wing advocacy groups, under the guise of being supposed ‘media watchdogs,'” who “weaponize social media against companies in an effort to stifle free speech.”

“It is a shame that left-wing advocacy groups, under the guise of being supposed ‘media watchdogs,’ weaponize social media against companies in an effort to stifle free speech,” Fox News said in a statement. “We continue to stand by and work with our advertisers through these unfortunate and unnecessary distractions.”

Carlson has also refused to back down, making clear on his show after the boycott was launched that he has no intention of caving to his critics and plans to continue to tell the truth about the impact of illegal immigration and our flawed immigration policies.

“The truth is unregulated mass immigration has badly hurt this country’s natural landscape. Illegal immigration comes at a huge cost to our environment,” he said on his show in December in defense of his “dirtier” comment. “The Government Accountability Office (GAO) put it this way: ‘Illegal border activity on federal lands not only threatens people, but endangered species and the land itself. Illegal aliens and smugglers have destroyed cactus and other sensitive vegetation that can take decades to recover, including habitat for endangered species.’ One land management official described another federal property on Arizona’s border as so unsafe and with resources so destroyed that it is now primarily used for illegal activities and no longer visited by the general public.”
