Former President Joe Biden wished President Donald Trump “all the best” in a letter that he left in the Resolute Desk for the 47th president.

Trump discovered the letter on Monday night in the Oval Office as he signed dozens of executive orders during the first day of his second presidential term.

“Dear President Trump, As I take leave of this sacred office I wish you and your family all the best in the next four years,” Biden said in the letter obtained by Fox News. “The American people – and people around the world – look to this house for steadiness in the inevitable storms of history, and my prayer is that the coming years will be a time of prosperity, peace, and grace for our nation.”

“May God bless you and guide you as He has blessed and guided our beloved country since our founding,” Biden concluded.

Trump commented on the letter during a press conference on Tuesday evening, calling it “inspirational.”

“He wrote me a nice letter,” Trump said. “It’s sort of a tradition, you put it in the drawer, especially of the beautiful resolute desk,” Trump continued. “And I opened the drawer and there it was, it said, ‘To Number 47.’”

“And it was a very nice letter,” he said. “I mean, I could show it because I think it was a nice letter. Maybe I will.”

Trump said that the letter was “a little bit of an inspirational type of letter,” that told Trump to “enjoy it” and “do a good job.”

He said that Biden also emphasized how important the job is.

“I think it was a nice letter,” he said. “I think I should let people see it, because it was a positive for him in writing it, I appreciated the letter.”
