A ‘Queer Muslim’ Jihad?

   DailyWire.com

In August, just before Donald Trump was set to take the stage to speak at my university, UNC-Wilmington, a student posted on Facebook, “Y’all are not prepared for what I’m about to do.” The context of the quote made it seem like a threat so the Secret Service paid the student a visit. Readers shouldn’t let the use of the term “Y’all” fool them. This threat wasn’t issued by a redneck wanting to see the Donald dead. In fact, our UNCW rednecks love Donald Trump. The most frightening type of student imaginable made the post: A self-described “queer Muslim social justice warrior” (hereafter: SJW).

I wish the Secret Service had called me before they contacted 19-year-old Nada Merghani about her Facebook post. I could have saved them the trouble and let them know there was no need to fear a terrorist attack from the confused teenager. Her claims to be a “queer Muslim” are probably part of an act designed to fit into as many victim categories as humanly possible. Sometime I wonder whether LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Thespian. So much drama, so few letters in the alphabet.

Nonetheless, the Facebook post was taken seriously by the Secret Service. It also caught the attention of numerous Trump fans. Several allegedly sent Merghani disturbing messages. Furthermore, the case has just gotten a little stranger since Merghani has now announced plans to sue UNCW. Her accusation is that the university has failed to provide her with an armed guard in the face of what she perceives as “credible threats” from Trump supporters.

When one examines the full context of the original Facebook post it is pretty obvious why Trump supporters were ticked off in the first place. It is also clear why the Secret Service was concerned enough to interview Merghani. She posted “Expect to see me at the Trump rally on Tuesday. Y’all are not prepared for what I’m about to do,” and concluded by saying “All I can say is pray I make it out of this alive.”

That sounds like a suicide mission for those who have never met Merghani. However, I have had the displeasure of meeting this upstanding SJW who just happens to be the founder of the Muslim Student Association at UNCW. Oddly, she is also the former president of the university’s PRIDE group. In my view, she simply lacks the intellectual coherence to form any sort of rational plan – including, but not limited to, killing a presidential candidate. She comes across sort of like Squeaky Fromme minus the handgun and resolve.

When I first encountered Merghani at a pro-life event on our campus she stood in front of our display for hours on end yelling at the top of her lungs at every passerby. This was clearly an effort to abort our conversations about abortion. It is my opinion that the condition this confused pro-choice anti-free speech Muslim crusader suffers from is nothing more than attention deficit disorder, or ADD. By ADD, I simply mean a condition manifesting itself in compulsive conduct meant to draw attention toward oneself at all times.

Of course, the Secret Service had no way of knowing that they were simply dealing with an SJW with ADD. So the “Y’all are not prepared” line was all that was needed to earn Merghani attention from the Secret Service just days after her now-deleted post. In the interview, Merghani actually told Secret service agents that her requests for prayers were reasonable given that Trump protestors have actually been shot at other Trump rallies. The principal weakness with this argument is that no one has ever been shot at a Trump rally. One could say the facts seem to trump her attempted argument.

Thankfully, The College Fix obtained a copy of the tape of Merghani’s interview with the Secret Service. In it, the agents attempt to explain their reasonableness in being concerned about the self-described queer Muslim SJW’s Facebook post. In the interview, one agent asks whether Merghani can understand their concern, to which she replies: “No, I can’t because I can’t imagine what sense of fear you guys got from a 19-year-old who’s a junior in college who’s a pacifist.”

Secret Service agents left the short meeting satisfied that this particular “warrior” for social justice was not a threat. But Merghani wasn’t quite so satisfied. In fact, she told The College Fix that she spent the entire day fearful in the Office of Institutional Diversity. Merghani also told The Fix she received at least one threatening message, which she said she deleted. She sounds a lot like a Hillary Clinton supporter.

After several hours of crying, our pacifist SJW made a request for an armed security escort from the university. Armed escorts to class would have been a great way to get more attention. Unfortunately, her request was turned down. So now Merghani hasn’t felt safe enough to attend classes. Clearly, she’s not taking the rejection well. Recently, she took an ACLU advocate with her to meet with Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Pat Leonard.

The College Fix reports that the meeting went poorly when the ACLU advocate told Vice Chancellor Leonard she suffers from “white privilege.” For once, I agree with the ACLU. Our administration really needs to diversify by adding at least one vice chancellor that is a “black queer Muslim.” In fact, I can state unequivocally that I have never seen a black Muslim lesbian who suffers from white privilege.

Merghani said she plans to sue the university for “breach of university policy.” In a way, they deserve the headache they are getting from this emotionally volatile “warrior.” Teach your students that they have a “right to be unoffended” and unlimited access to “safe zones” and this is what you get.

Despite what the diversity proponents tell you, all ideas are not equal. Some are more dangerous than others. Thankfully, the chickens of diversity appear to be coming home to roost.
