The cancel culture that brews on Twitter has become even more toxic. Trolls are now targetting “Queer Eye” star Karamo Brown simply for calling former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer “a good guy” in response to his being cast on the upcoming season of “Dancing with the Stars.”

According to PEOPLE, Brown has now canceled his Twitter account after enduring an onslaught of hatred at the hands of leftists for having the sheer audacity to defend ABC’s decision to include Spicer among this year’s cast.

“After catching heat for his response to Sean Spicer’s casting on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ Karamo Brown is taking a step back from social media,” reports the outlet. “As of Friday, the ‘Queer Eye’ star’s Twitter account has been deactivated. His Instagram is still active, but the comments have been turned off. PEOPLE is out to his rep for comment.”

When news broke that Spicer would be appearing on the hit ABC show, celebrities from Billy Eichner to Zach Braff to Kal Penn largely responded with outrage while demanding that the former press secretary be excluded from the upcoming season. Karamo Brown, who will also be a contestant, told “Access Hollywood” that he looked forward to engaging in a dialogue with Spicer, referring to him as a “good guy.”

“I’m a big believer that if you can talk to someone and meet in the middle, you can learn about each other and help each other both grow,” Brown said. “He’s a good guy, really sweet guy.”

Recognizing Spicer’s humanity was just a bridge too far, however, and the leftist trolls immediately began roasting Brown on Twitter. Later, Brown responded to his critics by saying he understands how people might misinterpret his comments.

“First, I have no say who is on the cast and didn’t find out till this morning that he is on,” Brown tweeted. “But I’ll tell you this … I’m excited to sit down [with] him and engage in respectful conversations. Only way things get better is if we try to educate those who have different [point of view] than us. But I understand how my comments could lead people to believe that I don’t understand the gravity of the situation. The personal is political. I’m reminded of it daily as a gay man of color. I know that representation matters — that it can affect change. I see you [and] I hear you. I’m bringing my personal message of love, equity, [and] inclusion to the dance floor. I want it to eclipse [and] triumph over divisiveness [and] hatred.”

Fellow “Queer Eye” star Bobby Berk later came to Brown’s defense in a series of now-deleted tweets, arguing that his co-star was simply trained to speak nicely about people in interviews. Berk also denounced ABC for putting him in that uncomfortable position.

“As if being on [Dancing with the Stars] wasn’t already one of the most grueling things anyone can put themselves through, celebs now have to deal with the producers and casting planting political land mines to blow you up. I’m very saddened by what my cast mate is having to deal with today,” tweeted Berk. “We’ve been trained over and over not to talk smack about anyone in an [interview] and to try and be as nice as possible. When being backed in a corner about voicing his opinions about [Sean Spicer] Karamo’s media training kicked in as we are trained to do.”

“It’s frankly a really [sh***y] situation to be put in and [ABC] should be ashamed of themselves for having to put the cast in the position of having to take a political side on a f***ing dance competition,” he concluded.
