Prince Harry arrived in London on Tuesday, hours after Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer.

The Duke of Sussex was spotted riding in the backseat of a black SUV that was entering the gates to the King’s residence at Clarence House, People magazine reported.

“That is good,” a source close to the royal household told the outlet.  “Hopefully [Harry] will bring the grandchildren at some point too, as that would be lovely for all of them.”

The royal appears to have made the flight from Los Angeles to London solo, leaving the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, and their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, at home in Southern California, the outlet noted.

The flight home marks the first trip back to the U.K. in months for the duke — whose relationship with his brother Prince William has been estranged following his initial decision to step down from his senior royal role alongside his wife in 2020.

Sources have already shut down speculation that Prince Harry’s return could equal some kind of reconciliation between him and his brother amid their father’s diagnosis as the two reportedly have no plans of meeting while he’s in the U.K., CNN noted.

On Monday, the royal household announced that the king was diagnosed with cancer during his recent “hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement.”

“Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” the statement read. “His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.”

“Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual,” the statement added. “The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”

“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer,” the statement concluded.

The royal household’s statement did not provide details about what kind of cancer the king was diagnosed with.

The King ascended the throne in September 2022 following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II at 96. Charles’ reign became official in 2023 with his coronation in May at Westminster Abbey.
