<p>President Donald Trump is calling for federal agencies to explain how they have wasted American taxpayer dollars.</p>
<p>In a memorandum released Tuesday afternoon, the president said that &#8220;the government spends too much money on programs, contracts, and grants that do not promote the interests of the American people,&#8221; arguing that Americans have a right to see how the federal government is spending their &#8220;hard-earned wages.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;For too long, taxpayers have subsidized ideological projects overseas and domestic organizations engaged in actions that undermine the national interest,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/02/memorandum-for-the-heads-of-executive-departments-and-agencies-7c05/">said</a>. &#8220;The American people have seen their tax dollars used to fund the passion projects of unelected bureaucrats rather than to advance the national interest. The American people have a right to see how the Federal Government has wasted their hard-earned wages.&#8221;</p>

<p>The president directed the heads of executive departments and agencies to &#8220;take all appropriate actions to make public &#8230; the complete details of every terminated program, cancelled contract, terminated grant, or any other discontinued obligation of Federal funds.&#8221;</p>
<p>The move is part of Trump&#8217;s efforts to fulfill his campaign promise to clean out the Deep State, target government corruption, and fire rogue bureaucrats and career politicians, <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/02/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-requires-transparency-for-the-american-people-about-wasteful-spending/">according to a White House fact sheet</a>. The Trump White House has made the case that under President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration, the United States government wasted taxpayer dollars on programs and contracts that did not serve the public but merely furthered ideological interests both domestically and overseas.</p>
<p>As examples of this wasteful spending, the White House points to the Biden administration sending almost $4.6 million to help groups abroad promote LGBTQ goals including pride parades and drag shows. The White House also points to wasteful USAID grants, such as the $1.5 million sent to “advance diversity equity and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business communities.&#8221;</p>
