A police officer with the Orlando Police Department has been relieved of duty after he was caught speeding approximately 40 mph over the speed limit on his way to work and then running from law enforcement after he was pulled over.

Orlando police officer Alexander Shaouni was driving his police cruiser 80 mph in a 45 mph zone when a Seminole County sheriff’s deputy decided to pull him over.

“What?” a combative officer Shaouni is seen on body camera asking the sheriff’s deputy who pulled him over. “I am going into work, my man. Why are you trying to pull me over as I’m going into work?”

“Because you’re going 80 in a 45,” the sheriff’s deputy fired back.

“What does it look like I am dressed for?” Shaouni continued. “What does it look like I am dressed for?”

The sheriff’s deputy said that he needed to see Shaouni’s drivers license at which point Shaouni said no, turned his back on the sheriff’s deputy, got back in his police cruiser, and drove off.

Local media reported that he was later arrested on charges of reckless driving, resisting an officer, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.

The Orlando Police Department said that the department was notified of the incident last week and immediately launched an investigation into the matter.

“The Orlando Police Department was notified by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, June 9th that OPD Officer Alexander Shaouni was involved in an incident that occurred in Seminole County that resulted in criminal charges,” the statement said. “Officer Shaouni has been relieved of duty pending the Seminole County Sheriff’s criminal investigation and OPD’s Internal Affairs investigation.”
