<p>Police nabbed the man suspected of gunning down six parade goers and wounding dozens more at a suburban Chicago <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/shooting-sends-4th-of-july-parade-into-chaos-multiple-feared-injured-or-dead">Fourth of July</a> celebration, <a href="https://twitter.com/NBCSky5/status/1544105507509739520?s=20&amp;t=4tGu5w_xitPDGfS0ucKwHQ">reportedly pulling him over</a> at an intersection in nearby Lake Forest after a massive manhunt.</p>
<p>The suspect was caught five miles north of Highland Park, where he is believed to have opened fire on a parade from a nearby rooftop. The massacre threw the affluent Chicago suburb into chaos and carnage, with dozens wounded in addition to the dead.</p>
<p>“This was very random, very intentional and a very sad day,” Sgt. Christopher Covelli, of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, during a press update.</p>
<p>The Daily Wire does not name mass shooting suspects once they are in custody, as part of a policy aimed at depriving them of the notoriety they often crave.</p>
<p>Covelli said the gunman appeared to have taken up up a sniper position. Police recovered a high-powered rifle from the scene.</p>

<p>The conditions of the injured ranged from serious to critical. Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering said the shooting has “terrorized” the city of 30,000.</p>
<p>“Firearm evidence was found on the rooftop of a nearby business, police commander Chris O&#8217;Neill said. The shooter used a ladder attached to the building on a wall in an alley to access the roof, said Christopher Covelli, spokesperson for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force,”<a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/04/us/highland-park-illinois-shooting-july-4-parade/index.htmhttps:/www.cnn.com/2022/07/04/us/highland-park-illinois-shooting-july-4-parade/index.html"> CNN</a> reported.</p>
<p>According to one source, the suspect’s father is a former Highland Park mayoral candidate.</p>
<p>Illinois Governor JB Pritzker of Illinois expressed horror at the shooting in a statement Monday.</p>
<p>“There are no words for the kind of monster who lies in wait and fires into a crowd of families with children celebrating a holiday with their community,” he said.“There are no words for the kind of evil that robs our neighbors of their hopes, their dreams, their futures.”</p>
<p>The world-famous concert venue Ravinia is located in Highland Park, a city which has a sizable Jewish population and is situated roughly 30 miles north of Chicago.</p>
