Superstar Patricia Heaton revealed that she set a person goal to read the entire Bible in just one year and shared that while it wasn’t always easy, she did in fact finish on Sunday.
The 64-year-old actress shared a video on Twitter with her hundreds of thousands of followers that detailed what she called “a year in the making” as she reflected on the plan that worked best for her to “read the Bible all the way through.”
“A year ago today [Dec. 19] I decided I would finally, for the first time in my life, read the Bible all the way through,” Heaton shared as she explained she got the plan from the gospel coalition. “And I finished it today. I can’t believe it.”

“You know somedays were just revelatory,” she added. “I saw things I’d never seen before. And somedays were kind of a slog. You know, just going through it and pushing through and just feeling like ‘I don’t even know what any of this is about.’ Mostly, Old Testament stuff.”
The “Everybody Loves Raymond” star said that even though she didn’t understand some of it, she didn’t let that stop her from accomplishing this year goal.
At one point, “The Middle” star talked about how she went through and noted all the “names for God in the Bible” as she shared things she wrote down like that he’s a “provider,” “healer, “a shepherd,” “righteousness,” “the beginning,” “the end” and so much more.
“It’s a great way to start your day,” Heaton explained. “There were times that I didn’t do it for a few days and then I had to do a big catch up. But it was always the best to just plow through everyday. Set that time aside and set some time aside to meditate on it and pray.”
And now that she’s done, the actress revealed that she was going to wait until January 1st and do it all over again. But she said this time maybe with a new plan. She closed out her video by stating “I highly recommend it.”
