Trying to keep the violent, anti-free speech momentum from the UC Berkeley riot going, some New York University students and protesters on Thursday night resorted to what has become the standard “anti-fascist” form of “protest”: violence. The “protesters” assaulted conservative pundit Gavin McInnes with pepper spray and clashed with his supporters and eventually the police, who, like in Berkeley, were forced to step in before more people were hurt.
McInnes was invited by the NYU Republicans to come and enjoy that most basic of constitutionally protected freedoms, free speech, on the campus. This was clearly a bridge too far for the fascist “Antifas,” who promptly offered him some pepper spray to the eyes as he was trying to make it into the building where he was scheduled to speak.
“As McInnes entered, the unruly crowd chanted things like, ‘Nazi scum, your time has come,’ while also lighting ‘Make America Great Again’ hats on fire,” the New York Post reports.
The Post notes that the “protest” was organized on Facebook under the title “Disrupt Gavin McInnes at NYU”:
“Come to Kimmel, Rosenthal Pavilion to let NYU know that we will not stand for bigotry, racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny on our campus,” the event page reads. “Gavin McInnes has a long track record of using incendiary language to attract media attention and frenzy … Most recently, in December 2016, Gavin McInnes launched an informal group called the Proud Boys, an ‘anti racial guilt,’ anti-feminist organization. When NYC Antifa began to share information about members of the group with their employers (in many cases leading to job loss), McInnes urged the Proud Boys to attend an Antifa concert and ‘wreck the s–t’ of the ‘f–gots.’”
After the encounter with the anti-free speech losers, McInnes posted a message to his followers reassuring them that only his feelings were hurt. “Thanks for asking if I’m OK guys. I was sprayed with pepper spray but being called a Nazi burned way more,” he quipped.
While some of the self-styled “disrupters” and McInnes supporters exchanged some punches, the police were able to keep things a little more in check than the chaos and flames that literally engulfed Berkeley.

And then there was the charming rant by a woman claiming to be an NYU professor (but who might just practice “lobster porn,” no seriously), who berated the police for failing to physically assault the McInnes supporters.
“You are f**king assholes! You’re protecting the Nazis!” the “professor” shouted at the NYPD. “You should kick their ass! You should! … These are kids who are trying to learn about humanity! They’re trying to learn about human rights and against racism and xenophobia, and LGBTQ rights, and you’re letting these f**king neo-nazis near here! It’s not up to these students to kick the ass of a neo-Nazi! They don’t have to raise their fist! They were taught to be peaceful! F**k you!”
