<p>President Donald Trump&#8217;s Border Czar Tom Homan vowed to press ahead with immigration raids in New York City after Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s victory in Tuesday&#8217;s mayoral race.</p>
<p>Mamdani, 34, has vowed to keep the Big Apple&#8217;s sanctuary status, preventing local law enforcement from working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. But that&#8217;s not going to deter the Trump administration, Homan told The Daily Wire on Wednesday.</p>
<p>&#8220;We will continue operations. Nothing changes,&#8221; Homan, who previously served as acting ICE director, said.</p>
<p>On the campaign trail, Mamdani <a href="https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ciamtNbhGjQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> ICE a &#8220;rogue agency&#8221; that &#8220;has no interest in laws, no interest in order.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;It is the actions of masked men in unmarked cars picking up Americans and New Yorkers, whether they&#8217;re going in for a regular immigration check-in or they&#8217;re just in their apartment lobby like Mahmoud Khalil,&#8221; Mamdani previously told far-left host Mehdi Hasan.</p>
<p>&#8220;And I do believe that when we think about what this country needs and a humane immigration policy that has some thought and care for law and order, that clearly is not ICE,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>Mamdani has also promised to provide $100 million in taxpayer funds for the legal defense of illegal immigrants, calling it a “cornerstone” of his campaign. He told supporters in June that he would fight &#8220;to stop ICE agents from deporting our neighbors.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Department of Homeland Security argued that Mamdani&#8217;s anti-ICE stance will only increase crime in New York City.</p>
<p>“As it does every day, DHS will enforce the law, including in New York City. When sanctuary politicians ignore ICE detainers, they are protecting criminal illegal aliens at the expense of American citizens. ICE is arresting and removing barbaric criminals with prior convictions for rape, murder, drug trafficking, and instead of holding them for ICE, sanctuary politicians release them back into your communities,&#8221; Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told The Daily Wire.</p>
<p>&#8220;These reckless policies have deadly consequences. ICE will continue placing detainers, enforcing immigration law, and defending public safety—because every American deserves to feel safe in their own neighborhood,&#8221; she added.</p>
