Actor Tom Hanks and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, posted an interesting message on Thursday night while self-quarantining in response to being infected with the coronavirus, which originated in China.

“Hello folks,” Hanks began. “Rita Wilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else.”

“There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness,” the statement continued. “We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no?”

Hanks then appeared to make a reference to a quote that he said while staring in the 1992 movie “A League of Their Own.”

“Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball,” Hanks said.

Here is the movie clip that the quote is from:

Hanks revealed on Wednesday night that he and his wife had been infected with the coronavirus while in Australia.

In a statement, Hanks said, “Hello folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had cold hands, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tests for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

“Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed,” Hanks continued. “We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?”

“We’ll keep the world posted and updated,” Hanks concluded. “Take care of yourselves! Hanx!”

Deadline, which first reported on the diagnosis, also reported on a statement from Warner Bros.:

We have been made aware that a company member from our Elvis feature film, which is currently in pre-production in The Gold Coast, Australia, has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus).

We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual.  The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world.

The individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently receiving treatment.

The latest news from Hanks comes as numerous major events around the world and in the U.S. have been canceled in recent days to prevent further spread from the coronavirus.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, was quarantined on Thursday after results revealed that she has been infected with the virus.

“The Prime Minister is in good health with no symptoms. As a precautionary measure and following the advice of doctors, he will be in isolation for a planned period of 14 days,” the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement. “Also on the advice of doctors, he will not be tested at this stage since he has no symptoms. For the same reason, doctors say there is no risk to those who have been in contact with him recently.”
