A current NFL player who’s in Nevada to play in Super Bowl LVIII was reportedly attacked by a coyote at Lake Las Vegas.
On Tuesday, speculation started surfacing on social media that an unnamed professional football player — either reportedly with the Kansas City Chiefs or San Francisco 49ers — had a some kind of run-in with the wild animal where the teams are staying while in town for the big game, Barstool reported.
The social media account that covers happenings in Vegas, Las Vegas Locally, wrote on X, “An NFL player in town for the Super Bowl was attacked by a coyote last night at Lake Las Vegas, according to a source.”
Total Pro Sports noted that the players on the Chiefs team are staying at the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa with the 49ers players staying at the Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa, about 25 miles outside of the bright lights of the famed Vegas Strip.

A press release on Monday from the Henderson Police Department said that it had no report or record of “any incident involving a coyote nor a professional athlete,” the Las Vegas Review-Journal noted.
At the time of this publication, no team or NFL player has confirmed or denied the rumors despite it lighting up sports media all day.
On Tuesday, ESPN host Pat McAffee of “The Pat McAffee Show“ dived into the rumor that some player was reportedly “bit” by a coyote.
“I would like to see how this thing was handled with the coyote,” McAfee told his audience. “I’ve seen them out here in Indiana just jogging down the street. Some of them are the size of a German Shepherd, some of them are a little bit smaller, some of them are a little bit bigger.”

“Depending on how good of a hunter said coyote is … but they do [look] very kickable,” he added. “Like right in the head if it was to attack you. You got to have those thoughts. … I wonder whichever player was attacked by that coyote kind of did.”
“We would like to hear who it was,” McAfee continued. “And did you protect this house?”
Later in the segment, the host spoke to NFL veteran and podcaster Will Compton — who’s in Vegas ahead of the Super Bowl on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium — and asked him what, if anything, he’s heard about the coyote rumor.
Compton said he hadn’t heard a thing about it yet, but vowed to be “boots on the ground” for McAfee to find out exactly what happened, if anything, and to whom. He even joked that it would be a hell of a story if it was him who was attacked.
