<p>The New York Yankees took a moment to honor conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, just hours after he was shot and killed at a campus event at Utah Valley University.</p>
<p>Despite the fact that New York City is a deep blue city in a solidly blue state, baseball fans were given the opportunity to come together, however briefly, and recognize Kirk&#8217;s contributions to political discourse over the last decade.</p>
<p>&#8220;Before tonight&#8217;s game we held a moment of silence in memoriam of Charlie Kirk,&#8221; the team posted on X, sharing a photo of the jumbotron with Kirk&#8217;s picture posted there. &#8220;Kirk founded the youth activist group &#8216;Turning Point USA&#8217; and had become a fixture on college campuses. Charlie Kirk, a husband and father of two children, was 31 years old.&#8221;</p>
