The New York Post took a swing at actor Robert De Niro with a snarky Wednesday morning cover mocking his rambling press conference — on behalf of President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign — outside former President Donald Trump’s Manhattan hush money trial.
The cover referenced De Niro’s turn in the 1980 film “Raging Bull” — for which he won his Best Actor Oscar — as huge capital letters screamed “RAGING BULLSH*T.” The sub-headline below invoked psychotic “Simpsons” character Sideshow Bob: “Sideshow Bob De Niro goes ballistic stumping for Biden outside Trump trial.”

The cover accompanied Trump’s response to De Niro’s appearance at the surprise Tuesday morning press conference.
“I never knew how small, both mentally and physically, Wacko Former Actor Robert De Niro was,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “Today, De Niro, who suffers from an incurable case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, commonly known in the medical community as TDS, was met, outside the Courthouse, with a force far greater than the Radical Left – MAGA.”
Trump was far from the only one to pan De Niro’s appearance. Republican strategist Karl Rove argued that in sending a campaign surrogate to Trump’s Manhattan trial, Biden’s re-election team was essentially proving that the prosecution was politically motivated to begin with.
“Stupid mistake by the Biden campaign! They wanted to get, while all the cameras were there, they wanted to get their moment in the sun. And it was a big mistake,” Rove said. “It politicized the trial — better to have waited.”

“And then what was said, with all due respect to Mr. De Niro, who’s a wonderful, wonderful actor … Are those the kind of credible statements that are going to cause people who don’t like Biden and don’t like Trump, but are trying to figure out who to vote for, are they going to cause people to say, ‘Well, geez, you now told me you wanted to destroy our country? Of course he did.’ The people who believe that are already in the Biden camp,” Rove continued.
