Democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James issued subpoenas for Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump in early December, according to court <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/03/nyregion/letitia-james-ivanka-donald-trump-jr-subpoena.html?smid=tw-nytimes&amp;smtyp=cur">filings</a>, but ABC News is now reporting that former President Donald Trump&#8217;s son and daughter will not comply with them.
&#8220;JUST IN: Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump refuse to comply with subpoenas issued by the New York State attorney general’s office as it conducts a civil investigation into the way the family real estate business valued its holdings,&#8221; ABC News tweeted on Monday.

<a href="https://dailywire.com/news/trump-trump-jr-blast-ny-ag-letitia-james-for-political-persecution-this-is-banana-republic-stuff/">James&#8217; subpoenas</a> were issued in pursuit of her ongoing civil investigation into the <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/breaking-manhattan-prosecutors-to-charge-trump-org-top-exec-with-tax-related-crimes-report-says/">Trump Organization</a>, and she said that her goal was to learn &#8220;whether rampant fraud permeated the Trump organization,&#8221; according to Business Insider.

Eric Trump was questioned in late 2020.
<a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21172721-letitia-james-trump-lawsuit-stipulation-subpoena-of-donald-trump-jr-ivanka-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-analytics-module="body_link" data-analytics-post-depth="40" data-uri="fcd8ecb618903f582b813cf3561773e3">The court filing</a> referencing the subpoenas said they were served &#8220;in connection with an investigation into the valuation of properties owned or controlled by Donald J. Trump or the Trump Organization.&#8221; It went on to say that a &#8220;dispute has arisen&#8221; between the attorney general&#8217;s office and the Trump family regarding the subpoenas.
A person familiar with the investigation previously <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/donald-trump-letitia-james-deposition/2021/12/09/01b10140-587f-11ec-a219-9b4ae96da3b7_story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-analytics-module="body_link" data-analytics-post-depth="40" data-uri="c5ddbad1538c70dc6192c2345a53b864">told The Washington Post</a> that James is looking into whether rampant fraud &#8220;permeated the Trump Organization,&#8221; and The Times reported last month that James wants Trump to sit for a deposition on January 7.</blockquote>
Congressman <a href="https://twitter.com/tedlieu/status/1478075754030141447">Ted Lieu</a> (D-CA) responded to the news on Twitter, saying, &#8220;No one should be above the law: Not the former President, not Ivanka Trump, and not Donald Trump Jr.&#8221;
&#8220;NY AG Letitia James subpoenaed Ivanka and Don Jr. Happy new year!&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/funder/status/1478054879100915722">Scott Dworkin</a> added.
<a href="https://twitter.com/OccupyDemocrats/status/1478078896352473088">Occupy Democrats</a> called for both Trump children to be held in contempt and arrested, tweeting, &#8220;BREAKING NEWS: Don Jr. and Ivanka Trump announce that they won’t comply with the subpoenas issued against them earlier today by New York Attorney General Letitia James. RT IF YOU THINK THAT THEY SHOULD BE HELD IN CONTEMPT OF COURT AND BE ARRESTED IMMEDIATELY!&#8221;
The former president filed a lawsuit against James and her office last month, arguing that her investigation constitutes a violation of his constitutional rights — and his son Eric was already questioned once in 2020.
According to the <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/trump/breaking-new-york-ag-subpoenas-ivanka-trump-and-don-jr/">report</a>, shared by Mediaite:
<blockquote>The legal filing that disclosed the subpoenas on Monday was signed by a judge who presided over an earlier court action brought by the attorney general’s office that forced the Trump Organization to turn over records and Eric Trump to submit to questioning,” the report says. “Monday’s filing set a schedule for Mr. Trump’s lawyers to move to quash the latest subpoenas, and for the attorney general’s office to respond to any such motion.</blockquote>
