Democratic Governor Ralph Northam of Virginia issued one of the most gruesome defenses of abortion this week when he said that a baby born alive could be left to die on the table if the mother did not want it. Naturally, cable news (minus Fox News) completely ignored it.
Governor Northam issued his barbaric comments during a radio interview this week. His full comment:
When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of the mother, with the consent of physicians, more than one physician by the way, and it’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus which is non-viable. So in this particular example, if the mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if this is what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physician and the mother.
According to Newsbusters, the broadcast networks along with CNN and MSNBC gave no mention of governor Northam’s horrific comments on Wednesday.
“Just as the broadcast networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC did earlier in the evening, a NewsBusters analysis found that liberal cable networks CNN and MSNBC ignored Northam’s comments during their primetime programming,” reports the outlet. “For this analysis, CNN and MSNBC shows from 7:00 p.m. Eastern to midnight Eastern were examined.”
By contrast, the Fox News Channel gave it extensive coverage, from “The Story” to “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, dedicating a total of “67 minutes and 23 seconds of coverage on Northam’s comments, unsuccessful attempts by Virginia Democrats to pass a late-term abortion bill, and how New York was able to push through such a law last week.”
“Within those numbers, Fox News @ Night had the most coverage with 17 minutes and 32 seconds. Tucker Carlson Tonight was 61 seconds back at 16 minutes and 31 seconds,” the report continued.
Keeping it “fair and balanced,” Fox News also featured as many as three pro-abortion officials to defend the various late-term abortion proposals in Virginia and New York. Instead, according to the report, CNN and MSNBC chose to focus on “tweets from over 12 hours earlier in which the President knocked his intelligence chiefs, the Mueller team catching Russians using non-public information to try and discredit the probe, and attempting to bludgeon former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz from considering an independent presidential bid.”
The media also largely ignored the D.C. March for Life again this year by instead focusing on the Women’s March.
According to LifeNews, despite an estimated 100,000 people being in attendance at the pro-life march along with President Trump’s address to the crowd via video, the Left-leaning outlets could not so much as “give a passing mention to the March for Life” during the Friday morning shows.
“It seems an anti-Trump march happening tomorrow is more interesting to the networks,” reported the outlet. “CBS gave a whole segment to the feminist, anti-Semitic ‘Women’s March’ scheduled for Saturday but didn’t even give a passing mention to the March for Life. ABC and NBC had plenty of time to give to fluff stories Friday morning, from Meghan Markle’s fashion, to ‘nomophobia’ which is an addiction to one’s phone.”
