NBC Panelist Says Republicans Have All The Winning Issues, Including Biden, Harris: ‘They Don’t Consume A Room’
Former Republican North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory said that all of the winning issues favor Republicans in the midterm elections– including President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Appearing as a panelist on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday, McCrory explained that Republicans are winning over voters on topics like inflation and immigration. He then said that Biden and Harris themselves aren’t helping Democrats because they lack the charisma to motivate their base to show up at the polls.
“The Republicans, I think, still have the winners,” McCrory said. “Inflation, especially related to energy…the gas prices, the price of eggs, the price of turkey as Thanksgiving is coming up– that is what everyone is reminded of every day, that’s why I give advantage to the Republicans. Immigration. Biden and Harris are an issue also. They don’t consume a room. They don’t have standing when they walk in the room. Some people do, [former President Barack] Obama does, Biden and Harris don’t.”
“In fairness, nobody has standing when their approval ratings are in the low 40s,” host Chuck Todd interjected. “It’s amazing how much your standard gets better when you’re at 50%, in fairness.”
“The issue is going to be, with Trump going to Ohio, and Florida, which is a whole other issue, and Biden going– are [he and Harris] gonna turn off more voters?”
President Joe Biden is set to campaign for Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul in New York Sunday amid concerns that she could lose to Republican challenger Lee Zeldin. The event is a get-out-the-vote rally, attempting to drum up some enthusiasm among the Democratic base, the New York Times reported.
The Sunday rally caps a busy week for Biden, who campaigned for Democratic Florida gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist and Senate candidate Val Demings in Miami Gardens on November 1. Two days later, he traveled to New Mexico to stump for embattled Democratic Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. On Saturday, Biden campaigned for Democratic Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Josh Shapiro and Senate hopeful John Fetterman.
Earlier this week, Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared at another campaign stop for women in support of Hochul.
