Police provided more updates Tuesday afternoon on the female shooter who killed six people, including three children, at a Nashville Christian school, revealing that the 28-year-old gunwoman was receiving care for an “emotional disorder.”

Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake told reporters that the shooter, a woman who identified as a man, was under a doctor’s care for the undisclosed disorder, adding that “law enforcement knew nothing about treatment.” A source close to the family told The Daily Beast that the shooter was also autistic but was “high-functioning.”

The shooter legally purchased seven guns from five different stores, according to police. Her parents, who said they did not want her to own any guns, acknowledged that they knew she had previously sold a firearm but did not know she owned others. The shooter was reportedly hiding the weapons in her parents’ home.

The shooter, a former student at the school, had two rifles and one handgun on her when she breached the Covenant School on Monday morning.

Police searched her parents’ home and found a detailed map of the school along with a manifesto. On Monday, Drake called the shooting a “targeted attack” and said authorities have a theory on the shooter’s motive, but they are not ready to share it yet.

“We also don’t have a motive at this time, we feel that the students that were targeted were randomly targeted, there was not any particular student that they were — that she was looking for at the time of the incident,” he said. “And that’s what we know as I speak.”

Katherine Koonce, the head of the Covenant School, was shot and killed in the hallway outside her office. Drake said it’s “very possible” Koonce was fatally shot when she confronted the shooter in the hallway. Mike Hill, a 61-year custodian and father of seven, was killed when the shooter fired through the glass doors to enter the building, Drake said.

The other victims included Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all nine years old, and Cynthia Peak, 61.
