Three Los Angeles Police Department officers were shot in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood on Wednesday evening, and the suspected shooter has been confirmed dead.
The officers were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials later said that they were all expected to make a full recovery after sustaining “non-life-threatening injuries.”
Authorities pinned a suspect in a building where he fired at law enforcement before the standoff ended and the suspect died, according to police. It was not immediately clear how the suspect died.
The CBS News affiliate said on live television that the response from law enforcement was “massive” and amounted to several square blocks worth of emergency vehicles surrounding the area.

The officers were part of the Metropolitan Division’s K-9 unit.
LAPD was placed on a citywide tactical alert during the incident, meaning that authorities were only responding to life-threatening calls due to the number of resources that were being consumed in response to the shooting.
“I deeply appreciate their service, and let them know that their city stands with them,” Mayor Karen Bass said at the news conference. “And I very much look forward to their recovery. My heart goes out to the officers’ families who tonight got the phone call, or the knock on the door, that they dread every day that their loved ones go on duty.”
