<p>The person accused of shooting up a private Christian school in Nashville on Monday is dead after being engaged by local law enforcement officials.</p>
<p>&#8220;An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr.,&#8221; the Nashville Metro Police Department said in a tweet. &#8220;The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead.&#8221;</p>
<p>Vanderbilt University Medical Center spokesperson John Howser said that the three children who were shot were all &#8220;pronounced dead after arrival.&#8221;</p>

<p>The Nashville Fire Department said that there were &#8220;multiple patients&#8221; from the shooting.</p>
<p>&#8220;Parents coming to the school should go to 20 Burton Hills at this time,&#8221; the department said. &#8220;This is an active scene.&#8221;</p>
<p>The private pre-kindergarten through grade six school ran active shooter drills last year.</p>

<p>The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) announced on Twitter that it was sending agents to the scene.</p>
<p>&#8220;Special Agents from the Nashville Field Office are responding to assist the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department with an active shooter incident that has occurred at the Convenant School,&#8221; the ATF said.</p>
<p>The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation later confirmed that the crime scene was no longer active and that there was no threat to the surrounding community.</p>
<p>&#8220;At the request of District Attorney General Glenn Funk, TBI special agents and additional personnel are responding to the scene of this morning’s school shooting in Green Hills,&#8221; TBI said. &#8220;As indicated by @MNPDNashville , there is no current threat to public safety.&#8221;</p>
