<p>A panel of regular MSNBC hosts — including Lawrence O&#8217;Donnell and Rachel Maddow — spent some time during their election night recap questioning whether or not the ballroom President Donald Trump is building at the White House had been part of the reason Republicans fared so poorly in several high stakes elections.</p>
<p>The major elections in play were the New York City mayoral election, the New Jersey gubernatorial election, and several key elections in Virginia — and all of them were won handily by the Democrats (or the Democratic socialist, in the case of New York City) in those races. And according to O&#8217;Donnell, he&#8217;d heard from at least one voter who cited &#8220;the demolition&#8221; being done in the White House&#8217;s East Wing — to prepare for Trump&#8217;s ballroom plans — as his motivation for getting out to the polls.</p>

<p>&#8220;Rachel, I was struck by something Vaughn Hilliard reported from a voter in New Jersey, saying that this voter was out there today voting because of, quote, this is what Vaughn said, the phrase he used, &#8216;the White House demolition,'&#8221; Lawrence said. &#8220;Donald Trump tearing down the East Wing of the White House — that sent a voter to the polls in New Jersey. Surely it sent thousands of voters to polls all around the country.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;And the mind reels at how many ways, if you&#8217;re a Republican candidate, Donald Trump can ruin your campaign any day of your campaign,&#8221; he added, clearly amused by his own assessment, and several others on the panel laughed as he continued. &#8220;Let&#8217;s just assume Donald Trump was determined to do this to the White House. No one in the Republican Party could say to him, &#8216;Could you wait until November 5th? Could you just — November 5th. Don&#8217;t do anything before then.'&#8221;</p>

<p>President Donald Trump claimed on Thursday that Democrats, if they returned to power, would waste no time in remaking the Supreme Court in its entirety. Two key figures on the Left — former Attorney General Eric Holder and longtime Democratic strategist James Carville — appear to be on the same page.</p>
<p>&#8220;The Democrats will terminate the Filibuster in THE FIRST HOUR, if and when they assume &#8216;control&#8217; or power. Republicans have what the Democrats want — We should do it, NOW, and have the greatest three years in History!&#8221; Trump said Thursday via his Truth Social platform, largely in an effort to prompt Republicans to force an end to the ongoing government shutdown.</p>
<p>Carville essentially predicted exactly that on his &#8220;Politics War Room&#8221; podcast Thursday morning.</p>

<p>&#8220;I want to talk to Chief Justice Roberts, Justice Alito, Justice Barrett, Justice Kavanaugh, Justice Gorsuch, I might be forgetting one,&#8221; Carville began, likely omitting Justice Clarence Thomas from his list of more conservative members of the Supreme Court.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m gonna tell you what&#8217;s gonna happen. A Democrat is gonna be elected in 2028, you know that, I know that,&#8221; he declared. &#8220;There&#8217;s gonna be a Democratic House, there&#8217;s gonna be a Democratic Senate. The Democratic president is gonna announce a special transition advisory committee on the reform of the Supreme Court.&#8221;</p>
<p>Carville said they would claim that the Supreme Court &#8220;has lost the faith and trust of the American people&#8221; and use that to justify recommending packing the court to restore &#8220;balance&#8221; and thus restore faith in the institution. And while he did not explicitly predict the end of the filibuster, it is far more likely that Democrats would have a simple majority in the Senate rather than a filibuster-proof majority going into 2028 — meaning that in order to pass such a controversial measure, they might be forced to first address the filibuster.</p>
<p>&#8220;They&#8217;re going to recommend that the number of Supreme Court Justices go from nine to 13. That&#8217;s gonna happen, people,&#8221; he insisted. &#8220;That&#8217;s gonna happen to you. They&#8217;re going to win, they&#8217;re gonna do some blue ribbon panel of distinguished jurists, and they&#8217;re going to recommend 13 and a Democratic Senate and House are going to pass it and the Democratic president is going to sign it, because they have to do an intervention so we can have a Supreme Court that the American people trust again.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I would bet a lot of money that that&#8217;s gonna happen,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>Holder said something similar just two days earlier, claiming that the district court judges had been doing a great job in trying to check President Trump — but that the Supreme Court was damaging its own reputation.</p>
<p>&#8220;It pains me to do this, but I think the Supreme Court is a broken institution,&#8221; he said, and much like Carville said, he argued that if Democrats control the House, Senate, and White House, they would have to do something to address the fact that the court persists in ruling against Democrat interests.</p>

Two Key Leftists Predict Dems Will Obliterate Supreme Court As We Know It

<p>According to a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjHoVmenp-o">CBS News/YouGov poll</a>, Americans believe the blame for the ongoing government shutdown should be spread out pretty evenly between President Donald Trump, Democrats, and Republicans — but if legacy media outlets were not doing yeoman&#8217;s work on behalf of the Democrats, might the people see the situation differently?</p>
<p>According to a <a href="https://newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/bill-dagostino/2025/11/05/study-tv-news-spends-shutdown-playing-defense-democrats">study published</a> by the Media Research Center, broadcast coverage on the three major networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) went out of the way to avoid any commentary that might suggest the Democrats were in any way responsible for the shutdown.</p>
<p>MRC pulled data from the evening news broadcasts across all three networks throughout the entire month of October — the first 31 days of the shutdown — and found that there had been 67 reports that addressed the topic. On those 67 reports, the overwhelming majority of the coverage — 87% — presented a positive view of Democrats. That imbalance translated to 83 statements that criticized Republicans over their role in the shutdown, versus only 12 statements that delivered similar criticisms of Democrats.</p>
<p>In addition, the networks appeared wholly disinterested in digging into how the shutdown had begun — and largely avoided addressing the number of times Democrats had voted to keep the government shut down despite being offered the opportunity to vote for a &#8220;clean&#8221; Continuing Resolution (CR), as well as separate legislation that would fund payment for members of the military or SNAP benefits.</p>
<p>&#8220;On both ABC and CBS, only 12.5 percent of reports on either network mentioned this basic detail,&#8221; the MRC report read, referencing the Democrats&#8217; repeated votes against a clean CR. &#8220;On NBC, that fact was included in just 31 percent of newscasts.&#8221;</p>
<p>When votes were mentioned, occasionally the parties were left out entirely, leaving the viewers to draw their own conclusion about where the roadblocks lay. Correspondent Tom Costello, for example, delivered the following line on October 30, as fears began to mount about travel disruptions due to a shortage of air traffic controllers: &#8220;Delta and United [Airlines] also urged Congress to pass a clean resolution, known as a CR, to end the shutdown,&#8221; he said – but his statement leaves out the fact that a clean CR has already come up for a vote in the Senate more than a dozen times – and that Democrats were the ones voting against it.</p>
<p>Costello did finally point out the fact that the airlines were backing the Republicans on this particular issue — but not until he made an appearance the next morning on &#8220;TODAY,&#8221; MRC noted.</p>
<p>Even CNN&#8217;s Jake Tapper had to marvel at just how effective the messaging had been — and he conceded that Democrats were largely responsible for the shutdown, even if they&#8217;d managed to convince the people otherwise.</p>

<p>&#8220;Democrats are the ones that are not voting to fund the government. Now, I understand why they’re doing so, they’re doing so because of health care and they want to fight, and they want Republicans to negotiate, et cetera, et cetera,” Tapper said on Tuesday. &#8220;The messaging by Democrats around this shutdown has been sharper than I’ve seen Democrats on any issue in a long time.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;They have convinced voters, Democratic voters and independent voters, that it’s the Republicans’ fault. And just on the numbers, that might not be actually accurate in terms of who’s voting to open the government and who isn’t,&#8221; he added.</p>

Shutdown Shenanigans: Study Reveals Just How Hard Media Outlets Work To Keep Americans In The Dark

<p>Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville took a page out of George Bernard Shaw&#8217;s &#8220;Pygmalion&#8221; and gave it a sickening twist, claiming on Wednesday that he could recruit a &#8220;convicted pedophile&#8221; and coach that candidate to a win over a Republican.</p>
<p>Carville — the brains behind former President Bill Clinton&#8217;s &#8220;it&#8217;s the economy, stupid&#8221; — cracked the off-color &#8220;joke&#8221; on his &#8220;Politics War Room&#8221; podcast in the wake of sweeping victories for Democrats in Tuesday&#8217;s elections. The joke was primarily a reference to Virginia Attorney General-elect Jay Jones, who won his election despite the revelation that he had once texted a colleague about wishing violence on a political opponent.</p>

<p>Laughing as he laid out his plan, Carville said, &#8220;I’m personally going to find a convicted pedophile and run him in a race just to see if he could beat a Republican. I’m not sure. I’m not going to say that a convicted pedophile could win.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;And by the way, the guy that was running against [Jones] ran a pretty good campaign,&#8221; Carville said, speaking of incumbent Attorney General Jason Miyares (R-VA). &#8220;He ran ads &#8230; if you think &#8230; the most interesting thing, drum roll, I&#8217;m going to give y&#8217;all the most interesting piece of news of the cycle, even more interesting than Bucks County. The Republican legislator who released the texts lost. And Jay won.&#8221;</p>
<p>Carville continued to laugh as he added, &#8220;I mean it&#8217;s just — just a little tidbit. Hey, you got some baggage out there with Trump, people. Just know that.”</p>
<p>Carville made headlines recently when he argued that President Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8220;collaborators&#8221; should be <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/james-carville-fantasizes-about-trump-collaborators-paraded-in-the-streets-like-post-war-nazis">treated like Nazis</a> in post-war Europe, and be paraded through the streets in orange jumpsuits with their heads shaved so that the people could spit on them.</p>

James Carville Thinks A ‘Convicted Pedophile’ Could Beat Republicans After Tuesday’s Elections

<p>Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) tore into Virginia Attorney General-elect Jay Jones — who won Tuesday’s election despite the cloud of scandal that threatened to engulf him — on Wednesday, saying that he was no less concerned about Jones’ ability to carry out the duties of his office in an unbiased manner.</p>
<p>Youngkin mentioned the scandal that had followed Jones, stemming from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/is-the-virginia-way-dead-ag-jason-miyares-breaks-down-whats-really-at-stake-in-jay-jones-race">text messages</a> he’d sent three years earlier that advocated the assassination of then-state House Speaker Todd Gilbert, a Republican, and suggested that Gilbert and his wife should have to watch one of their young children die.</p>

<p>“And I believe, just as I&#8217;ve always believed that that disqualifies him for the job,” the governor continued. “The next administration&#8217;s going to have to figure out how to deal with that because they have law enforcement, that they&#8217;re going to need to make sure, feel good about doing the job. They&#8217;re going to have to make sure that parents with children feel safe.”</p>
<p>“And that’s going to be a challenge going forward. My position has not changed; that there is absolutely no excuse for what he wrote. None. And we live in a society today that I think has lost its way, at least some folks have, on their willingness to almost accept violence and political violence as a solution,” Youngkin concluded.</p>
<p>Republican gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears lost her bid for the governor’s mansion on Tuesday, meaning that Youngkin will soon be replaced by Democrat <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/spanberger-still-sells-merchandise-with-jay-joness-name-despite-attempts-to-distance-campaigns">Abigail Spanberger</a>, who initially condemned Jones’ text messages, but stopped short of calling for him to step away from the race.</p>

Glenn Youngkin Rips Into Jay Jones After Election: ‘I Am Incredibly Concerned’

<p>Minneapolis Democratic incumbent Mayor Jacob Frey successfully defended his office despite a challenge from his left in Democratic socialist Omar Fateh, the candidate some have compared to New York City&#8217;s Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.</p>
<p>Minneapolis uses ranked-choice voting, and Frey was able to pull together majority support after the third round of tabulation. After the first round, he already had a clear lead over Fateh — 41.8% to 31.7%.</p>

<p>Throughout the campaign, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-omar-fateh-the-radical-somali-american-democratic-socialist-running-for-minneapolis-mayor">the Somali-American</a> attempted to capitalize on the type of messaging that had made Mamdani resonate in New York City — but with more limited success.</p>
<p>Among other things, he promised on the campaign trail to make Minneapolis the &#8220;last line of defense&#8221; against President Donald Trump and a &#8220;safe haven&#8221; for everything from illegal immigrants and abortions to transgender hormones and surgeries.</p>
<p>Fateh took direct aim at Frey on his campaign website, saying, &#8220;With Donald Trump back in the Oval Office, the progress towards equity and justice that our communities have worked so hard to create is in jeopardy. Mayor Frey has said that our approach to fighting Trump is extreme — he’s wrong.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Democratic socialist also adopted similar policy positions to Mamdani&#8217;s on making things — housing in particular — more affordable, promising to implement a rent freeze if elected, and calling for additional expenditures on housing designated for &#8220;LGBTQ+ and BIPOC people,” because he said they were “some of the highest at risk for losing their housing, being over-criminalized by [Minneapolis police], and being harassed by their employer.&#8221;</p>
<p>Fateh was initially endorsed by the local Democratic Party in the Minneapolis mayoral race over Mayor Frey.</p>
<p>&#8220;This endorsement is a message that Minneapolis residents are done with broken promises, vetoes, and politics as usual. It’s a mandate to build a city that works for all of us,&#8221; Fateh said at the time.</p>
<p>But Frey argued that the endorsement was unlawful due to the process by which the group had voted, and that resulted in the Constitution, Bylaws &amp; Rules Committee of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) withdrawing the endorsement later.</p>
