A mother is speaking out after learning that the alleged sex offender who preyed upon her 13-year-old daughter was an illegal immigrant set free by local authorities who chose not to notify U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The Trump administration recently brought the case to light after launching mass deportation raids in Charlotte. While exposing local authorities for setting illegal immigrants free, the Department of Homeland Security highlighted the case of Costa Rican illegal immigrant Jordan Renato Castillo-Chavez, 29, as one out of roughly 1,400 cases in Charlotte where local cops refused to honor federal immigration detainers.
“It’s hurtful that my child is a victim and they had this person and let him go,” the victim’s mother, Misha Rose, whose own father was deported from the United States after committing a crime, told WSOC.
“This is serious … we need justice, he needs to go,” she said as she fought back tears.
Jordan Renato Castillo-Chavez was released after North Carolina authorities failed to honor the ICE detainer.
