Vice President Mike Pence touted the White House administration’s economic policy at the “Tax Cuts to Put America First” event in Iowa on Wednesday where he told an enthused crowd that the Trump administration has already made history cutting red tape.
President Trump’s trade policy has opened the doors in foreign markets for farmers and businesses, said the vice president.
“But probably one of the biggest reasons for the growth and the expansion in the economy that we see today is that, right before Christmas, President Trump, with the strong support of these members of Congress, kept the promise we made to the American people when he signed the largest tax cuts and tax reform in American history,” he said.
Pence praiseed the recent move by President Trump to eliminate burdensome taxation.
“I mean, we cut taxes for working families. Now, back of the envelope, we figured out the typical family of four in Des Moines is going to save about $3,000 a year on their taxes,” he said. “We cut taxes for businesses large and small. It’s what happens when you elect a businessman to be President of the United States.”
Pence continued, “We repealed death taxes for nearly every American farmer so the family farm can stay right where it belongs.”
The vice president took a moment during his speech to poke fun at the previous administration. “And when we were busy cutting taxes, in case you didn’t notice, we cut out the core of Obamacare,” he said to applause. “The individual mandate tax is gone.”
Pence also discussed how the tax cuts have led to “bonuses, pay raises, and bigger benefits.”
The vice president also briefly discussed President Trump’s energy policy, the reforms at the Veteran Affairs Department, and health care.
