UPDATE: The website of the Michigan Secretary of State has called McDaniels and Cox’s claims “erroneous reporting,” claiming that the software did not “glitch,” but “the clerk accidentally did not update the software used to collect voting machine data and report unofficial results”:

The erroneous reporting of unofficial results from Antrim county was a result of accidental error on the part of the Antrim County Clerk.

The equipment and software did not malfunction and all ballots were properly tabulated. However, the clerk accidentally did not update the software used to collect voting machine data and report unofficial results.

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Michigan GOP Chairwoman Laura Cox held a press conference on Friday outlining alleged irregularities and a software glitch that apparently caused 6,000 votes cast for Republican candidates to be inaccurately counted as votes for Democrats.

According to Cox, the error was found and corrected after the county hand-counted the vote. The software, though, was used in the same capacity in 47 other counties across the state, she said, warning of possible similar glitches elsewhere.

“In Antrim County,” Cox said, “ballots were counted for Democrats that were meant for Republicans, causing a 6,000 vote swing against our candidates.”

“The county clerk [Sheryl Guy] came forward and said tabulating software glitched and caused a miscalculation of the votes. Since then, we have now discovered that 47 counties used this same software in the same capacity,” she continued.

“Antrim county had to hand-count all of the ballots,” Cox said. “And all these counties that use this software need to closely examine their results for similar discrepancies.”

“The people of Michigan deserve a transparent and open process. Voters deserve to know that all legal votes are being counted,” concluded Cox.

According to WWMT news, McDaniel and Cox also “outlined what they called counting irregularities in the Detroit metro area, including what they called back-dating ballots, and vowed to pursue an investigation of the process.”

McDaniel also claimed that GOP poll watchers “were denied access to the tabulation work in some precincts.”

Captioning video clips from the press conference, McDaniel posted via Twitter: “This is our democracy. We need to pursue clear irregularities. The RNC has already deployed legal teams in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to investigate issues with vote counting and tabulation to ensure the integrity of the election.”

“We have documented irregularities in Michigan,” she posted in another clip. “In Wayne County, poll watchers were kept in the dark with blocked windows & padlocked doors. At the TCF Center, a whistleblower said their supervisor asked them to illegally put dates on ballots.”

“If Michigan’s Democrat Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson really cares about fairness, she should intervene and make sure that every single person at a canvas right now has the ability to meaningfully observe and give assurances that things are being done correctly,” said the chairwoman.

McDaniel also posted: “Right now we don’t have faith in the system that Jocelyn Benson and Gretchen Whitmer have set up for Michigan. Democrats should not be okay with ballots being backdated against election law.”

According to New York Times reporting, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden earned 50.5% of vote in Michigan, totaling 2,794,853 votes. President Donald Trump earned 47.9% of the vote, with 2,646,956 votes in total.

The Trump campaign issued a statement Friday morning following a call from Decision Desk HQ declaring Biden the winner of the 2020 election after giving the former VP the battleground state of Pennsylvania.

“This election is not over,” said Matt Morgan, Trump 2020 campaign general counsel. “The false projection of Joe Biden as the winner is based on results in four states that are far from final.”
