Megyn Kelly, Dana Loesch, and other prominent conservative commentators took to social media on Tuesday, calling the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department “heroes” for their response to a mass shooting that killed six people at a Christian elementary school.
The host of “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast tweeted to her millions of followers: “Thank God for the heroes at [MNPDNashville],” following the release of the body cam footage from officers Rex Engelbert and Michael Collazo, who responded to the active shooter at Covenant School.

On Instagram, radio host Dana Loesch wrote, “The video is graphic and I’m not sure Insta will allow it. It shows heroic MNPD officers responding in minutes to neutralize a threat. Heroes.”

“We’ve always had guns,” she added. “We’ve not always had mass killers. It’s not the gun, it’s the breakdown in society.”
“People unserious about solutions won’t acknowledge that some mental illness induces violence, evil is real, and leaving people defenseless isn’t a defense,” Loesch concluded.
Outback’s Clay Travis wrote, “Michael Collazo and Rex Englebert were the brave [MNPDNashville] police officers who arrived at the school, ran to gunfire, and killed the trans murderer before she could kill more innocent people. They are heroes. Share their story widely instead of the killer’s name.”
