During a recent appearance on Sinclair’s “America This Week with Eric Bolling,” 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson scolded progressives for what she views as their dismissive attitudes toward the power of prayer and visualization.

In a now-deleted tweet, Williamson wrote, “The Bahamas, Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas … may all be in our prayers now. Millions of us seeing Dorian turn away from land is not a wacky idea; it is a creative use of the power of the mind. Two minutes of prayer, visualization, meditation for those in the way of the storm.”

After Bolling asked Williamson why the tweet was deleted, the candidate stated that she shouldn’t have taken the tweet down, but that she panicked.

She then took the Democratic Party to task for “condescending attitudes” regarding spirituality:

What could be more traditional than to talk about praying? This is not bizarre. A prayer is a power of the mind. That’s what prayer is. I’ll tell you something – and I’m a Democrat – but if we want to expand our base, we really need to drop any condescending attitudes toward people of faith.

This idea of mocking someone for suggesting that we pray, whether it comes from the Left or the Right, it’s not good. When you’re a person of faith, this doesn’t mean you’re less intelligent; it doesn’t mean you don’t believe in science; it doesn’t mean that you’re uninformed. It means … you believe the power of prayer is a power as well.

At some point after the segment, Williamson was caught on a hot mic talking about conservatives treating her more kindly than progressives:

What does it say that Fox News is nicer to me than the lefties are? What does it say that the conservatives are nicer to me? It’s such a bizarre world. You know, I’m such a lefty. I mean, I’m a serious lefty, but they’re so – I understand why people on the Right call them “godless” – I mean, it’s like, I didn’t think the Left was as mean as the Right. They are.

Williamson later returned to Bolling’s show and spoke about the hot mic indecent. The candidate wasn’t pleased about it, however, claiming to have been told that if she came back for another interview, the tape wouldn’t be played. Bolling stated that he told Williamson’s team that the tape would be played, and suggested it was just a miscommunication.

Williamson then explained the hot mic statement:

All I was saying – you know, I think when it comes to … the rough and tumble of politics and how people behave, I think that there are things that happen just in people – it’s not a Left-Right issue. And I have found, you know, it’s tough out there. I was just talking about the fact that [on] that day, you were certainly very kind to me. And listen, many people on the Left are very kind to me. I’m running for president, I don’t expect – it’s not a walk in the park. So, I was making a comment that I had found my life that day … the Republicans don’t have to be attacking me right now. I’m in a Democratic primary, so Republicans are, you know, “Hi, Marianne!” whereas some people on the Left … because they’re working for other candidates, I understand how that goes. That’s all I meant.

Marianne Williamson didn’t make the cut for Thursday’s Democratic debate, and she currently sits at just 0.5% on the RealClearPolitics polling average, number 14 behind the lower-tier candidates such as Beto O’Rourke (2.8%), Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar (1.2%), and even billionaire Tom Steyer (0.8%).
