A Manhattan man accused of smearing his own feces on a woman’s face on a subway has been attacked with boiling water while sitting on Rikers Island.

Frank Abrokwa, 37, was arrested and charged with forcible touching, menacing, disorderly conduct, and harassment after he allegedly smeared his own feces on a 43-year-old-woman’s face as she waited for the subway on February 21, the New York Post reported. Abrokwa reportedly has been arrested more than 44 times and has five more cases pending against him.

A Rikers Island detainee told the Post that an inmate with the last name of Burns threw boiling water on Abrokwa’s face, adding that he will likely “have scars for the rest of his life” following the incident.

“He didn’t deserve it but if anyone was going to get burned, he would be the first one in line,” a source told the Post.

“You can wash s–t off your face and remain with the mental scars. When it comes to hot water, you will have physical and mental scars for the rest of your life,” the source added.

This same source told the Post that Burns was already being held on felony assault charges and would likely face new charges relating to the boiling water attack.

Other sources within the prison told the Post that Abrokwa clearly has “mental health issues” and will “snap at the drop of a hat.”

“Look at him wrong or say the wrong thing and he was ready to fight,” a source told the outlet.

Even though Abrokwa was arrested for the subway attack in February, he was released without bail since his crimes were deemed non-violent. After his arrest for the attack, he allegedly told police that “s*** happens” and told the judge, “F*** you, b****.” He was still released without bail.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams used Abrokwa’s case to call on the state to get tougher on crime.

“This individual should not be out on the streets of New York and his release shows the scope of changes that we need to make in order to keep New Yorkers safe,” Adams said in a statement in early March. “It is the result of a failed mental health system, a failed housing and support system, and failing criminal justice laws that allow someone with a history of violence who poses a clear threat to public safety to just walk out of court.”

Abrokwa was finally put behind bars on March 21, after he was arrested yet again and charged with entering the office of a storage facility in Harlem, breaking a glass window, and threatening an employee. His bail was set at $15,000.
