Law enforcement arrested a suspect Sunday in the fatal shooting of a Temple University police officer, according to reports.

U.S. Marshals arrested an 18-year-old man at 7 a.m. in Buckingham Township, Bucks County, in connection to the deadly incident, sources told CBS News. The suspect has not been identified as of press time.

“We can confirm that a suspect has been taken into custody for the murder of one of our police officers. We are told that the arrest was made using our fallen officers’ handcuffs,” tweeted the Temple University Police Association.

Authorities said an officer was shot in the head while trying to intervene in a carjacking, per 6 ABC. The officer was declared dead after being taken to a hospital.

“There are simply no words that can make sense of this tragedy. It tears at our sense of community and safety. We all mourn this unspeakable loss,” Temple University President Jason Wingard said in a statement.

His statement said the university would not identify the officer out of “respect for the officer’s family and friends, we are not releasing his identity at this time.”
