A 19-year-old man from Seattle has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a high schooler while she was dead or dying from an overdose.
Brian Roberto Varela allegedly had sex with 18-year-old Alyssa Mae Noceda after a party at his mobile home, sent lewd photos of the girl to friends via text messages in which he bragged about sleeping with her, and then stuffed her dead body in a plastic crate at his home.
His intent, he told police, was to burn her body with onions to mask the smell. Varela also reportedly used the victim’s finger to unlock her phone and sent messages to her family through the app Snapchat in an attempt to make it appear she had run away from home.
Varela was charged on Friday with second-degree rape, manslaughter and controlled substance homicide, according to the Associated Press.
Noceda’s body, stuffed in the plastic crate, was found by police on Tuesday at Varela’s home. The suspect was arrested.
Noceda, who recently split up with her boyfriend, took Percocet and liquid THC while at the house party. She collapsed in Varela’s room later in the evening. “But instead of helping the woman, Varela allegedly took explicit photographs of her while she was dead or dying and sent them to friends,” notes NewsWeek.
“LOL, I think she od’d, still breathing,” Varela allegedly wrote in a group text message.
The day after the party, the 19-year-old went to work his shift at a local Dairy Queen, where he apparently told a coworker he was unsure if Noceda was still alive or deceased while he was having sex with her. The coworker contacted authorities.
The suspect also boasted to a friend about having sex with the teen “to pass the time,” adding that “she died having sex with me,” say reported court records.
“Before arresting Valera, deputies spoke with his mother, who said she had kicked her son out of his home because of drugs and his ‘gangster lifestyle,'” notes BuzzFeed. “The teen also identified as an ex-gang member, according to a court affidavit.”
The teen’s mother, Gina Pierson, posted a video of her daughter to Facebook last week.
A GoFundMe page has been set up in Noceda’s memory.
