New York City Muslim Mayor Zohran Mamdani remembered the three-year anniversary of October 7 on Wednesday by accusing Israel of genocide.

“The suffering did not begin nor end that day,” Mamdani wrote. “It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians — including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed.”

Mamdani also accused Israel of targeting ambulances, residential buildings, and journalists while blocking food aid.

“That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing,” he added.

Mamdani also accused Israel of committing war crimes in its response to October 7. “Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.”

While much of Mamdani’s message on October 7 was focused on blaming Israel for its reaction after the terrorist attack, he also remembered the October 7 victims, saying the day “marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.”

New York Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul focused her tribute entirely on the victims of the October 7 attacks.

“It’s hard to fathom that it has been three years since the October 7 Hamas massacre,” she wrote. “Three years since the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. The pain of that dark day has not faded. But neither has the strength, resilience and enduring hope of the Jewish people.”

She added, “Today, we remember the innocent lives stolen, stand with the survivors and the families forever changed, and pray for a lasting peace.”

The Israeli Consulate in New York invited Mamdani to its October 7 screening of a 47-minute film documenting the atrocities committed by Hamas.

“If he will come on October 7th he will see for the first time what the people he supports really did,” Israeli Consul General Ofir Akunis said. “Maybe if he will come, he will stop spreading his hate and blood libels against the state of Israel.”

Mamdani did not respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment on whether he planned to attend. Mamdani’s public schedule shows he is scheduled to attend a vigil in remembrance of October 7th.

Following the vigil, Mamdani is scheduled to “meet with Palestinian New Yorkers.”
