At the White House Correspondents Dinner this past weekend, comedienne Michelle Wolf delivered a hate-filled, mean-spirited monologue in which she mocked WH Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for her looks, dropped an abortion joke, and made absolutely no attempt at partisan unity.
At a time when the American public has little trust in the media, Wolf electing to play the part of a partisan court jester rather than a genuinely funny satirist who favors the singe over the burn only confirmed what middle-Americans already felt: the mainstream media hates them and would rather wedge a hacksaw into the chasm of division than bridge the gap. Some reporters present during Wolf’s hate-rant understood this, which is why they took to Twitter immediately to condemn what they were privy to witness:
