Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) and Megan Fox are quickly becoming the most eclectic couple in Hollywood, which is no small feat. The incredibly expressive duo recently got engaged. Then they sealed the deal by drinking each other’s blood. And now, MGK has revealed that he designed Fox’s engagement ring to cause her physical pain.

The rapper, whose real name is Colson Baker, teamed up with jewelry designer Stephen Webster to create the one-of-a-kind jewelry piece. MGK spoke with Vogue about his inspiration for the ring.

He described choosing a “thoroughbred Colombian emerald” and diamond engagement ring which was “just carved into the teardrop, straight out of the mine.” And then he picked a very special construction.

“The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings. When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet.” Kelly said. “So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart. And you see this right here? The bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts.”

Later in the interview, the rapper joked, “Love is pain!”

Jewelry designer Webster spoke with People about the finished look, which he called, “quite extraordinary.”

“By the use of magnets buried within the gold, [the rings] are attracted to each other and sit together perfectly on the finger,” Webster said. “[It’s] a detail that is both modern and quite extraordinary.”

The designer didn’t reveal the cost of the piece, but jewelry experts estimated that it could be worth around $500,000.

MGK previously shared the engagement announcement on social media. “Beneath the same branches we fell in love under, [I] brought her back to ask her to marry me,” he wrote.

“I know tradition is one ring, but [I] designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.”

The couple met on the set of their movie “Midnight in the Switchgrass,” which began filming in March 2020. They fell in love quickly and became Instagram official in July 2020.

Fox discussed how she had a feeling that filming with MGK would change her life

“I was like, ‘Who is going to play this role?’ And [director Randall Emmett] was like, ‘Oh, we just got Machine Gun Kelly,’ and immediately, I was like, ‘Uh oh,’” Fox explained during a podcast interview.

“Because I knew, I could feel that some wild s*** was going to happen to me from that meeting but I wasn’t yet sure what. I just felt it like, deep in my soul—that something was going to come from that.”

Before going all in with Baker, Fox was married to fellow actor Brian Austin Green. The pair have three children together. This will be the first marriage for MGK, who does have a 12-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
