On this edition of “Daily Wire Backstage” with special guest Glenn Beck, co-host and god-king Jeremy Boreing recalls an encounter with President Bill Clinton in which he discovered the former commander-in-chief’s favorite movie. Partial transcript and video below.
I have a story that is kind of funny. When I was 21 or 22, I stood in line for 12 hours to shake hands with Bill Clinton, the former president of the United States.
He had been my president, you know when I was coming of age. He had this book coming out, and I was living in LA and I was poor and had nothing to do. One of my pals said, “If we stand In line for 12 hours to meet President Clinton and he signs our book, that crap goes for like $500 on eBay.” And so, we stood in the line to get our book signed. I still have mine by the way. I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it.
So, my pal, who will remain nameless because he actually has a career and doesn’t want to be associated with this. We stand in line and we’re thinking, “What are we going to say to the president when we meet him?” I wanted to make a joke about how long his book is and compared to that book we would all save in the apocalypse. So, I was going to say, “The good book isn’t much longer, Mr. President.”
But, when I got up there and looked into those piercing Bill Clinton eyes, you know, and I was shaking hands with Bill Clinton, I said, “The… good Lord’s book… isn’t much longer… Mr. President.”
He actually looked at me like we were going to have a fistfight. He looked at me like, “I don’t know what you just said, but come at me, bro.”
And then my pal comes up behind me and tries to salvage the moment. His question was going to be, “I understand you are a movie buff, Mr. President. What is your favorite movie?”
The question that comes out of his mouth is, “What’s your favorite movie, movie buff?”
To which Secret Service puts a hand on his shoulder and pushes him along. Bill Clinton calls out after us as we’re being escorted off the premises and says, “’High Noon!’ I tell you why in the book!”
