Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Emmy Award win from November and the celebrity response to it sparked new outrage after a new bombshell admission from one of his top aides that his administration allegedly covered up the extent of coronavirus effects on nursing homes to avoid a federal investigation.

A slew of New York A-listers heaped praise on Cuomo for his “leadership” during the pandemic, calling the Democrat “the man” and joking that he’s gonna get “more dates than votes” now when he won his Emmy Award in November, as noted by the Daily Mail.

“Thank you for your leadership during these trying times. We are New York Tough- smart, disciplined, united and loving,” gushed actor Robert DeNiro.

Spike Lee praised Cuomo’s dialed press conference.

“You are the man!” said actress Rosie Perez, adding, “You did your thing – every single day you came on the airways and offered your strength and leadership.”

Actor Ben Stiller said he spoke to the governor’s brother, CNN host Chris Cuomo, for funny material. “Now you are the love-guv,” Stiller said, adding that Cuomo is now a “national sex symbol.”

“You’ll probably get more dates than votes,” Stiller said Chris Cuomo joked.

“In the darkest days of the pandemic, your daily briefings live from New York gave us hope, gave us clarity, gave us the truth and gave us something that we were not getting from Washington: leadership. You are the epitome of New York tough,” Billy Crystal said, smacking then-President Donald Trump.

“In the midst of the storm, Andrew Cuomo became the nation’s governor. people tuned into his press conference everyday. Stay safe and please wear a mask,” singer Billy Joel praised.

As noted by The Daily Wire, news broke last week that top Cuomo aide Melisa DeRosa reportedly “met with Democratic lawmakers over a video conference call to apologize for the heat they have taken from GOP opponents and critics over the Cuomo administration’s secrecy surrounding the state’s elderly population.”

According to the New York Post, DeRosa told Democrats that the Cuomo administration “‘froze’ out of fear the true numbers would ‘be used against us.’”

“He (President Donald Trump) starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes. He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer,” DeRosa reportedly complained during the same conference call.

“This was only 2 months ago,” wrote pro-life advocate Obianuju Ekeocha, captioning the Emmy video. “Every single one of these phony celebrities should be ashamed to the point of publicly denouncing this man for theneedless deaths he & his team hid. But I suppose this will be memory-holed. #LiberalPrivilege.”

Conservative Jerry Dunleavy captioned the video: “How embarrassing.”

On Friday, Democratic Queens Councilman Robert Holden said in a latter to the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences that Cuomo’s Emmy should be revoked, noting that the reasoning for the award no longer holds true.

“The Academy awarded Governor Cuomo ‘in recognition of his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic & his masterful use of TV to inform and calm people around the world,’” Holden wrote, according to the New York Post.

“We now know that his TV appearances and clout were used to mislead the public regarding how their loved ones died,” he said, adding, “Please rescind the Governor’s award immediately, as his actions have been an insult to every New Yorker who lost a loved one during this terrible pandemic.”
