Some gay activists are saying pump the breaks on transgender ideology.
Earlier this month, the hashtag #LGBdroptheT <a href="https://notthebee.com/article/its-happening-lgb-drop-the-t">trended</a> on Twitter. Users who said they identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual criticized progressive gender ideology and attempted to distance themselves from transgender activists.
Those tweeting under the hashtag expressed their frustration that, in their view, the transgender movement has co-opted the gay rights movement and turned it into something unrecognizable.
“The T hitched a ride a few years back, invited itself for dinner, and is trying to make out that it always lived here. It didn&#8217;t,” tweeted user Rick Westhorpe, who describes himself as &#8220;same-sex attracted&#8221; in his Twitter bio.
“Pride marches, protests, and LGB rights happened WITHOUT the T. I remember &#8211; I was there. I also remember the T wasn&#8217;t,” he added.

“No thanks. I’m gay (the G part) which means I exclusively like men &#8211; not women who think they’re men,” <a href="https://twitter.com/jossjoseph89/status/1556205524537966607">tweeted</a> user “Joss.”
“Joss” also praised author J.K. Rowling after she tweeted out an article critical of the transgender movement, saying that she inspired him to “love reading” when he was eight, and now she is “fighting for his rights as a gay man.”
A slew of gay activists posted under the trending hashtag that transgender activists must be iced out of the movement because they have crossed a line.
One Twitter user said her daughter is lesbian but began identifying as a boy after three of her friends said they were transgender.
“I support dropping the ‘T’ from the LGB. These are not the same,” she tweeted. “Many young gay people are being drawn into social and medical transition &#8230; It needs to stop.”
“Real change is coming to the #LGB community and I am here siding with them, happy to see it happen. Any group of ppl seeking to silence women into submission and exploit the lesbian community can go to hell. #LGBdroptheT,” tweeted another user.
Another Twitter user said separating trans-identifying people from lesbian, gay, and bisexual people is a “necessary step&#8221; because transgender ideology “negates” the objective truth of men and women, “which in turn negates the existence of gay, lesbian, or bi people.”
“On top of that, they need to stop the grooming and the BS,” the user added.
In recent months, stories have cropped up about children as young as two <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SwANMBBEKs">identifying</a> as transgender. Meanwhile, parents across the country have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/parents-protest-elementary-teacher-who-was-disciplined-over-queer-kids-tiktok-teaching-again-at-new-school">spoken out</a> against teachers introducing the concept of gender identity to their very young children.
&#8220;We didnt sign on for this s***. We dont want kids groomed. Not wanting men in our spaces or to have sex with certain genitalia does NOT make us transphobes. We promised it wasnt the slippery slope they feared. You took advantage of our good will. Its gone too far,&#8221; tweeted another user under the hashtag.
Yet another tweeted that the pendulum is already &#8220;swinging.&#8221;
&#8220;Nobody wants to deal with the trans movement, it&#8217;s full of satanic, grooming, pro body mutilation dictators who have destroyed many lives for not playing with their delusions,&#8221; tweeted the user.
The gay community&#8217;s frustration with transgender ideology goes back to at least 2015, the same year Caitlyn Jenner came out as a transgender woman.
That year, one group of gay and bisexual men and women <a href="https://www.advocate.com/transgender/2015/11/06/lgbt-groups-respond-petition-asking-drop-t">organized</a> a <a href="https://www.change.org/p/human-rights-campaign-glaad-lambda-legal-the-advocate-out-magazine-huffpost-gay-voices-drop-the-t">petition</a> asking prominent LGBT advocacy groups and media outlets to stop representing transgender people. The petition received thousands of signatures.
The group said that they feel the transgender ideology is not only &#8220;completely different&#8221; from gay rights but is &#8220;ultimately regressive and actually hostile to the goals of women and gay men.&#8221;
In the U.K., a charity called the LGB Alliance emphasizes that they &#8220;are about sexual orientation, just as the Gay Liberation Front was when it launched in 1970,&#8221; as founder Bev Jackson <a href="https://twitter.com/ALLIANCELGB/status/1560915513672433665">puts</a> it.
In 2018, a group of lesbians <a href="https://www.heritage.org/gender/commentary/why-the-lgbt-alliance-could-be-the-brink-schism">disrupted</a> London&#8217;s pride parade to protest including transgender people in the LGBT community.
